Terrace Inn is conveniently located right next to Katsuta JR station and the city's bus terminal. There are various eateries within walking distance and the Lawson 24 hours convenience store is right next to the hotel. From the bus terminal, you will be able to catch a bus to Hitachi Seaside Park, the main attraction of Ibaraki during Oct and Apr/May. If you drive, parking is free at the hotel's main & secondary car parks.

For shopping, Mega Don Quijote (supermarket) is just 5 minutes' walk away or you may take the JR train to Mito Station (1 station away) and you will find big departmental stores like Excel and Bic Camera electrical store.

Room wise, it's superb as the room, furniture, bathroom, tv, fridge and beds etc all look new and clean. It's evident that the hotel is thoughtful and guest-centric as everything you need are there, eg. WiFi, LAN point & cable, kettle, instant coffee/tea, toothbrush, shaver, comb, hair dryer, slippers, bath robes etc. The air conditioner works well quietly and each room comes with a air cleaner/humidifier. Coin laundry, microwave oven and ice machine are available at the lobby.

Staff service was very good, though only few staff speak English, they are most helpful. During raining days, they provided towels at the lobby for guests to wipe themselves dry. Housekeeping was done very well even without tipping, we left a small tip for the housekeepers at the end of our stay to show our appreciation even though it was not required nor anticipated.

Overall, I must say both my wife and I were very happy with the hotel and will certainly stay with them the next time we visit Ibaraki / Hitachinaka.

Title isn't meant to bring the hotel down but I feel it's not right for others to not be aware of the room size. It might have just been my room, but there was only space for the bed, a desk and for some reason a huge leather massage chair! Clean and neat all round and service was good. Breakfast was a bit limited but adequate, and probably because we had been in some more plush hotels in Tokyo before. Great location for train station, and town square which we visited a couple of times. Good value for money

Stayed in hotel for 12 nights on business trip. Great location, Katsuta station in 2 min walk, plenty of buses for different direction just outside of the hotel (including bus to Seaside Park). Restaurant in the hotel has very good choice of food both Japanese and Western styles for breakfast as well as for dinner. Room had enough space for two of us, clean and well maintained. Hotel staff is very friendly and professional, even they don't speak perfect English they so helpful that you don't have any problem with communication.

Room tip: Discussed room size in square meters

Thank you very much for staying with us.
We are so pleased to hear "Home away from home" .You liked our hotel and restaurant.
Terrace Inn Katsuta is located in front of the Katsuta Station. It is easy access to prefectural capital Mito, and even Tokyo. There is a limousine bus from/to Narita and Haneda Airport.
Hitachi Seaside Park is one of the most popular sightseeing spot in Ibaraki. It is known for variety of colorful flowers and grasses with a total space of 350 hectares throughout the four seasons, especially Nemophila in spring and Kochia in autumn. A lot of tourist visit there in recent years, including guests from other countries.
We keep trying to improve language skill and our hospitality.
We hope we can welcome you as our guest next time.

Decent hotel next to Katsuta station with clean (non smoky) rooms and fast internet. Basic shops and a good selection of restaurants within walking distance. I used to stay in Mito but this hotel is better located for the Naka factories and saves you from getting stuck in traffic travelling backwards and forwards to Mito everyday. Not sure if I'd want to be here at the Weekend but for a working week business stay it's ideal.

Thank you very much for staying at Terrace Inn Katsuta.
Our hotel is located within 1 minute from JR Katsuta Station. Katsuta is not so big city but there is small downtown near the station. There are basic shops, a lot of restaurants for dinner mostly Japanese-style pubs. As your comment, you might get caught in heavy traffic jam from and to Mito during rush hours.
There are some sightseeing spots in this area. Hitachi Seaside Park is getting popular for tourlists from other countries these days. It is famous for Nemophilas(baby blue eyes) in spring and kochias(summer cypress) in Autumn. You can take a bus in front of our hotel. If you take train, you can even go on a day trip to Tokyo.
We look forward to seeing you next time.

I have stayed there twice and will stay there again when in Hitachinaka. The hotel is clean and well organised like most hotels in Japan. An advantage is that it us new and the furniture and facilities are of good taste and make your stay pleasant. A strong point is the restaurant which impressed! Very nice food and white local ale. Considering the price paid for business I have rated it 5 out of five. Of course the rating is based on similar hotels in its league, not compared with the upmarket five star venues.
