The Blackburn Cabins were exactly what we were looking for: appropriately rustic for a wilderness retreat, but offering a luxurious resting spot after arduous day hiking (finally made it to Jumbo mine!)
The cabins have fantastically comfortable mattresses and bedding, and the decor is charming. It was nice to have a sink in the cabin, and a very short walk to a shared outhouse and shower. If you aren't up for that kind of "rustic" experience, then the Blackburn cabins are not for you (one might argue that McCarthy/Kennicott isn't really for you either, but I digress).
The location is ideal - about a mile walk to McCarthy and right near the glacier toe. You feel like you're nicely tucked away from the hubbub of McCarthy, while still being relatively close.
Livvi and Mark were wonderful hosts, accommodating and warm while still letting us to our own devices. I hope to stay here next time I am fortunate enough to spend time here.
