“Lovely accommodation - exactly as described.”
Reviewed 5 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Very friendly welcome from Hilary on arrival. Nothing too much trouble. Can't think of anything we needed for our stay which wasn't provided. Very comfortable and in a beautiful setting. Short walk to a pub providing good food. Only complaint was the weather!

“Idyllic Accommodation in Idyllic Countryside”

We have just completed our fourth stay at this delightful abode. Due to Hilary and Andrew’s attention to detail and superb hospitality, we are able to relax and begin enjoying our holiday as soon as we arrive. Nothing is ever too much trouble for these two wonderful hosts. Because we stay for a month, the washing machine in the accommodation is high on our ‘must have’ and ‘greatly appreciated’ list - although that said, fresh towels and linen are provided by Hilary on a regular basis. We love seeing the two beautiful dogs, Bailey and Meg, who have their own area at the front of the owners’ part of the property and away from the guest accommodation. There are many outstanding highlights to this property which have all been stated in previous reviews. One of my favourite aspects of this property is the views of the beautiful garden spaces, large pond and the local hillside which is totally covered by trees. This really is the perfect ‘home away from home’ secret hide-a-way. It is also the perfect place to sit and relax and while away the hours or use as a base for visiting the many and varied places of interest or involving yourself in various activities in the surrounding area. The accommodation is near to friendly, local pubs with great beer and excellent food. There are plenty of supermarkets as well, so you can make good use of the well-equipped kitchen. Rail, motorway and airport are within easy access. We can not speak highly enough of Dane Cottage. It really is idyllic accommodation in idyllic countryside and we look forward to another return.

“Excellent accommodation, lovely host”

Dane Cottage was perfectly located for a wedding we were attending. The booking was very smooth and easy and the owner communicated quickly and pleasantly and was very accommodating. The directions to reach the cottage from the station were perfect - we walked in less than 15 mins, but the owner even offered to pick us up! The owner met us at the cottage and gave us the low down - she was very friendly and helpful but not overbearing and left us to get on with our stay after giving us the essential information. She had even bought us croissants (and had left marmalade and butter) & milk for the morning after the wedding we were attending so that we'd have some breakfast. There was coffee in the cupboard. The cottage is a perfect size for 2 people, with a sunny private garden with a patio with a table and chairs and a landscaped garden. Around the private garden is the owner's amazing gardens and their own lake - you are welcome to walk around the lake and their gardens. Everything you could want was provided including towels, shower gel and shampoo. There are a couple of nearby pubs - the Castle Inn is a 5 minute walk and serves a good Sunday roast. There were a couple of others within a 5 minute drive. We had a very nice 90 minute walk the next morning that started just across the road - there were plenty of other nearby walks and the owner provides a folder with information about the walks inside the cottage. Very happy we chose to stay here. I would definitely recommend a stay at Dane Cottage to anyone wanting to explore the Peak District. Many thanks for a great stay.

“Couldn't be better!”
Reviewed 30 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

A perfect spot to relax and unwind for a few days. The annex is beautifully decorated and fully equipped – we couldn’t fault it. It was wonderful to have hiking trails straight from the door and the canal towpath is not too far away. We were blessed with perfect weather and it was hard to tear ourselves away. Thank you Hilary and Andrew! Hope very much to return!

So relaxing, enjoyed New Years Eve here.. Lovely accommodation, love swapping between here and Dane Cottage in Winkle. Both of them are quality properties with different aspects.
