“Will be coming back”
Reviewed 10 October 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed here in July with friends for one week. Very well fitted cottage and extremely helpful owners. Nice area with lots of National Trust houses nearby, as are the Derbyshire peak district.

“Bliss in beautiful area”
Reviewed 20 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The swallows stayed just long enough to say goodbye and left us in a very comfortable, well equipped barn conversion, with 2 en-suites, TV in all rooms, very easy to use appliances, wood burner - not that we needed it, it was so cosy in warm September sunshine.
New to the area we discovered joy at every corner, including the local canal and locks to wander along. Jodrell Bank was awesome, Flash the highest UK village and the surrounding heather moors were all superb. Brenda the owner was especially kind and on hand to rescue us when we got locked in a car park...she literally went the extra mile, and always with a smile. We hope to be back..if she will have us!

It was a pleasure to have you to stay with us - and we'd love to welcome you back again. best wishes Brenda

“Excellent accommodation, great location for exploring”
Reviewed 22 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Arrived 15th August for a six night stay with my husband and two teenagers. We were all extremely impressed with the standard of the cottage. It had everything we needed, my children especially liked having an ensuite bathroom. The cottage is an excellent base for exploring Chesire and Derbyshire, and boy did we make the most of it. We visited Lyme park which was a excellent day out for all, exploring the grounds, and seeing the house and eating our picnic in the gorgeous gardens. We visited Chester Zoo which does take about an hour to get too but is well worth the visit. It is one pf the best we have been too, and we have seen a few due an animal mad daughter. We also visited Congleton, Biddulph, Buxton, Stoke on Trent and Bakewell all offer lots of different things to see. What was great was all the brochures in the cottage with plenty of ideas for trips or information on places we had already picked to visit. We did manage to fit a walk in near the cottage, we did the bosley canal walk which we enjoyed seeing the boats going through the locks. All in all a very busy holiday one of the best we have had. Brenda and family have done a fab job and I would not hesitate to return. Already recommending the cottages to family and friends

“Beautifully presented, perfectly equipped cottage and wonderful hosts.”
Reviewed 10 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Just brilliant!

Four of us spent nearly a week at Swallows Barn, each couple arriving a day apart. Our first impressions were of a cottage that had been thoughtfully designed, finished to the highest standard and very thoroughly equipped. The welcome could not have been warmer or more helpful, the cottage could not have been cleaner and within minutes we felt very much at home.

The area is fascinating with a rich industrial and rural past, wildlife, the High Peak and some splendid National Trust properties within easy reach.

With a washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, ceramic hob and electric oven, refrigerator with a good sized freezer compartment and even an electric whisk (well surely everyone has to make chantilly cream when they're on holiday) the kitchen is well equipped and large enough to prepare, eat and wash-up a three course meal for 4. The utility area adjoins a downstairs WC - even though both bedrooms are en suite this was a blessing as we all had to be on the outskirts of Macclesfield for 6:45 on three mornings. The beds were comfortable; that from a chap who rarely sleeps more than 3 hours/night and never, at home, manages to go back to sleep - here an extra hour or so was a repeated pleasure.

We had some particular requirements that were discussed with Brenda before our stay and she absolutely came up trumps - going way beyond anything that we imagined. Do speak to Brenda before your stay - you will not find a more helpful host.

Just brilliant - a huge thank you to Brenda, Tom and their daughter (a recently qualified vet who helps out at weekends) - we had a terrific stay and only wish that we could have stayed longer.

“Lovely Barn Conversion...”
Reviewed 1 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Stayed here with my young family while visiting relatives in July and really liked the place. The finish of the conversion has been done to a high standard and the cottage has a lovely cosy feel. Would highly recommend.

Have already booked it again for New Year...
