The wood burning fireplace in the lobby was a welcome respite from the cold drizzle outside. The front desk staff was extremely warm and welcoming. The room was ok, but some of the public areas quite warn. Dinner was ok, as was breakfast, though nothing to write home about. Ok place to stay if in the area at the end of the day.

After a late ferry to Ullapool we needed a hotel inside 2 hours to break the journey home. Booking.com were offering a deal on the suites at the Boat, and since they took dogs we booked in there. Friendly staff on arrival and in the bar where we ate. Room 101 fine and comfy bed, but yes the stair carpets need some work! We had similar problems as others at breakfast - slow service to the extent that we were leaving when asked if we'd ordered.

Another visit and still open fires, tasteful decor and friendly staff. And this time there was a new menu - varied and delicious. It was also our first visit with baby and dog but the staff were unfazed and very welcoming. Outstanding value and a happy stay. Would recommend.

This is an awful hotel, run down, dirty and dangerous.

The carpet on the stairs to the rooms are worn out and have big hole in them, making a trip hazard.
The window in our room (207) was ready for falling out, gaps all the way around it, cracked pains and rotten frames. The wind just blew through and made the room cold.
(see photo's)

The curtains were ripped.

Cracked sink in the bathroom, loose toilet.

State of room was dirty

Thin walls, could hear everything in the next room.

It's a pity I can't give a minus rating

Room Tip: The only good room is not to use any in this hotel

Excellent location , hotel had a rustic charm.
Manager most unhelpful and quick to dismiss you if you have a problem. Our booking with booking .com said a deluxe room with private balcony and furniture, this information was written on our booking , he said booking .com were to blame and not them.
Room was nice but not clean , obviously a dog had been in it and dog hairs everywhere. Also were overcharged , so check you bill thoroughly on departure. I phone three times and left messages but no response, eventually emailed and overpayment had now been refunded.
