Balebarn on Wheatland farm is a great place to stay. I almost don't want to mention how good it is in fear of it becoming to overbooked for us to stay again.

The barn itself has been beautifully restored/converted into a great accommodation. Perfect for family or a group of friends. Outside is a lovely decked veranda for you to eat on if the weathers nice which overlooks a beautiful garden/field with meandering paths leading down to a pond. You can either sit beside it and relax or take a swim in it or even paddle around in a small boat.

The local villages and countryside are also beautiful. Local trains & buses are also available.

“Fabulous setting, amazing setup, gorgeous accommodation and lovely lovely hosts.”
Reviewed 1 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We went with extended family (11 in total) and stayed in Baelbarn and otter cottage. We arrived Friday to scones and vegan biscuits for the vegan in the party. The kids made maximum use of the pond, boat, large spaces and treehouse. It was such a lovely weekend, one we will treasure forever. Thank you so much to Ian and Maggie for all their effort and kindness in making our stay possible.

Hi Helen
It was great to have you and the family here and especially to see the children enjoy the wild spaces so much. Thanks for staying, as it is only the income from guests that allows us to manage the land for wildlife. Hope to see you all again sometime.
