“Probably the best yet”

This is a well equipped cottage in a beautiful place with an extremely pleasant owner. It is furnished with some lovely antique furniture which adds to the quality feel as well as having all the mod cons you might need (except a dishwasher which we would not use anyway).Best of all it was warm and comfortable and immaculately clean (and I mean CLEAN!). This is very important and not always the case in holiday rentals. This place was absolutely spotless. I would stay here again without hesitation.

“Beautiful well-equipped Cottage in Stunning location”
Reviewed 14 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We spent ten nights in this lovely cottage. It was spotlessly clean with a well-equipped kitchen with Aga (no dishwasher) and a warm cosy living room. Imogen gave excellent service, and the welcome food pack and fresh flowers were a lovely touch. We enjoyed chatting with the owners as well. The road to the cottage is narrow but we met no oncoming traffic during our stay and there are adequate passing points. It is a very peaceful and relaxing place to return to after a day of walking and/or sightseeing. Haydon Bridge is an excellent base for exploring Hadrian's Wall, Newcastle, Durham and surrounds, Scottish Borders and the Northumberland Coast.
We were fine with the steep staircase but it may not be suitable for young children, people with less mobility and the elderly. Access to a small garden area would be the icing on the cake!

We had a lovely long weekend in this cottage, the kitchen was well equipped with an aga that I wanted to take home with me. We will happily return to enjoy again this fabulous house.
The location was beautiful we loved the walks and exploring the area.

“Quiet little paradise”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We arrived to a beautifully clean cottage with fresh flowers in the main rooms. The road to the cottage, whilst narrow in places should not put holidayers off...it's not that bad, and parking is fine. Cottage has a oldy-worldy feel to it and is very nicely furnished. Lovely little touches...coffee, tea and quality biscuits, very nice bedding and towels. Quality electrical appliances (with instructions!). Very well equipped... there was nothing that we couldn't find. Beautiful surroundings and views, especially from the upstairs windows. We spent many a breakfast watching the birds feeding through the kitchen window. Plenty of storage for belongings. As others have said, the staircase is steep, but it has a good handrail and as long as you are careful, there is no problem.

“Well equipped cosy cottage”

I booked this cottage for myself, husband and our two grandchildren aged 10 and 8 after seeing other reviews and also liking the look of the photos showing the interior. We were not disappointed.

The cottage is managed by Imogen, the cottage manager, and she had placed vases of lovely garden flowers in the main rooms. She had also made sure that it was absolutely spotlessly clean.

Interior decor wise, The kitchen is absolutely gorgeous with it's stripped pine dresser and Aga oven. The main bedroom was also lovely. But I would add that you do need to like dark antique which we do. The children did comment that the front room furniture could have had brighter furniture. But that was a very small detail as their main concern when I was booking the cottage was, that it had wifi and TV! So they were easily pleased.

The location I'd ok. The fsecond day of our stay we took a local walk, but we did travel out most days (my husband likes driving )

We went to Wallington, Cragside and had a fantastic day out at Alnwick castle, and also went with a picnic to the roman fort at Housesteads.

If you are not keen on driving too much on your holiday there are places much nearer for walks, picnics etc.

The one thing that was overlooked when I booked the cottage was... The garden... Unfortunately the owners garden ( attached to the cottage ) was not accessible to us. And with two boisterous grandchildren, it would have been great for them to be able to play cricket etc in the garden.

For that reason i will not be booking the cottage again if we are taking the gc's with us. I would, however, have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family with no children
