“A lovely getaway”
Reviewed 22 July 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We had a great week at Beech House. The house itself looks wonderful and is nicely furnished and we particularly enjoyed the hot tub and feeding the lambs every day. There's loads to do on-site from a children's playground with trampolline and zipwire, to table tennis, snooker, TV...etc although if you do want to leave and explore I'd say that having cars really helps as it's a reasonably long walk to the closest town (Holsworthy) and the beach town of Bude is about 10 miles. While probably usually a property that goes to families, we were a group of 20-23 year olds and it suited us well. Wifi is available, but only in one room. In a way that's a good thing as a holiday should be a bit of an escape! The owners were lovely and so were their dogs and sheep! Would definitely recommend.

“Lovely Welcome”
Reviewed 21 May 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Just spent a week at this location, Thorne Park, which I had trouble finding on Trip Advisor at first as I was looking for Thorne Park but its down as Beech House. (sorry I was not aware that's what you called the house park of your accommodation) . The house was very clean, tidy and spacious. We were welcomed with a basket of the most delicious home-made scones, jam and clotted cream, which was really kind of Marlene. We had the room with the bunkbeds as we have 3 small children and we had a travel cot to use that was also supplied by Marlene and its was clean and adequate. Both Tv's had freeview and the large dining table had a removable cover which made it into a snooker table. A cupboard filled with children's toys and also a cupboard with a few classic board games. The hot tub was a welcome addition and I did enjoy using it as did one of my children and husband. I would like to come back again this time with the extended family on my side. One thing the visitor book recommends the Rydon Inn as a place to go eat and yes its nice and does have a good beer and wine selection. But its says its a gastro pub and no sorry I don't think so although its prices try to tell you otherwise and the owner is a bit hasty to give you a lecture if he even sniffs a bit of criticism even constructive. My husband got a 5 min 3rd degree lecture because he asked for custard on his Sticky Toffee pudding (rollseyes) . Apart from that thank you for a lovely week Marlene.

“Perfect Break”
Reviewed 8 February 2012 for a stay in June 2011

We stayed here for a week last year and although the weather was not kind to us, (lots of rain) because Beech House was so comfortable and welcoming, we managed to have a really lovely time. A lovely surprise was the fabulous home made scones, with strawberry jam and cream left on the table for us to have with our cup of tea when we arrived. They were simply delicious, and I'm pretty sure that Marlene made the strawberry jam too. What a treat!! We were also able to feed the two little lambs their morning milk bottles every day which was enchanting - niether of us had ever fed a lamb before as we live in London. The house is beautiful inside and out, spotlessly clean, warm and beautifully decorated. We loved having the old working sheep dog visit us in the evening for any treats that we had left over. The whole place is just lovely, with plenty of good walking on your doorstep, the lovely town of Holsworthy just down the road, and the rest of Devon and Cornwall on your doorsetep. A really lovely place to have a break away from it all. Such a pity that the weather did not provide us with an opportunity to use the Hot Tub. Ah well, you can't have it all!!
