Reviewed 6 April 2018 via mobile

Went and had a snorkel and relax on the beach. Fishermen very friendly. Had a picnic, small shop near(ish) beach. Worth a relaxing hour.

Travel from Polis along the road to Pomos and you will be enthralled by the marine scenery. Take your time. Let the other holiday making visitors in their red plated hire cars overtake and roar up the road. Remember. YOU are on holiday. The sea lined road is scattered with bars and family run cafe's . Over 20 years we have tried most of them, all are good. On entering POMOS, down a hill you will see the harbour stretch out in front of you. There is a fairly large pull in for your car. The actual harbour area can get quite busy in season. We travelled both in September and November this year (2017) and parked very easily. Not a great deal to do once you get there. But certainly worth the drive.

I almost don't want to spread the news about Pomos harbour! We came about 18 years ago and delightfully found it hardly changed on this visit. There's a new car park which is useful and public toilets. The small beach has sunbeds for hire and a lifeguard, but if you have small children, or want to avoid the crowds, go down the stairs to the right as you come down towards the car park, and go to the cove. There's no umbrellas there, so take your own, but the water is calm because of the breakwater and the snorkelling is wonderful!! And the views are just stunning. The fish restaurant on the hill is great too and popular with locals.

Having read an article on the 10 best beaches in Cyprus we decided to take a drive along the coast from latchi to visit the beautiful beach which came in at number 4 on the list. The local Pomos district website also described the beach as 1km long and made up of fine and coarse sand with occasional coloured pebbles. Unfortunately we were disappointed to arrive at Porto Pomos harbour to find the beach consisted only of rocks, grey pebbles, no sand and definitely not 1km long. Although the beach was small I suspect the nearby rocks and clear water would be good for snorkelling. The beach was full of what appeared to be locals who occupied the few sunbeds that were available. After having a quick look round to make sure the beach listed at number 4 wasn't hiding round the corner, I approached the bar tender manning the beach bar for directions to any other beaches in the area only to find that he spoke no English what so ever. At this point we made our way back to the car and departed. Before departing I did have the good fortune to visit the newly built public toilet block in the harbour which scored an impressive 8 out of 10 as they were extremely clean, doors locked, lights worked and dry toilet paper was freely available. Certainly better than any public beach toilet block I've visited in the UK. In summary, Pomos harbour is quite picturesque but I was disappointed by the adjacent beach due to the hype I had read.
