“Simple but charming holiday home”
Reviewed 16 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have just returned from a fantastic family holiday with our two teenage sons, staying at Villa Anthea. Having booked the apartment before any reviews had been given, we were greatly dismayed to find a review, a week before travelling, deeming the property terrible! It was therefore with much anxiety that we arrived at the apartment but we were delighted to find the property beautifully clean with all the facilities we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was well equipped with fruit and complimentary drinks left in the fridge. The bedrooms had ample storage and the beds had lovely clean bedding! Although, as the first review stated there was a cracked tile in the bathroom, it was in the corner and in no way effected the hygiene. There was ample hot running water and plenty of fans to keep cool and the small courtyard garden was full of flowers.

The property is just outside Fontana ( or Platanos, it seems to have two names) a small village on a hill, and half an hour walk from Loggos harbour. However, with Paxos being so small you really benefit from hiring scooters or a car anyway in order to visit Lakka and Gaios along with all the different beaches along the coast, so being away from the town for us was not a problem. Although the island is hilly, the roads are quiet and felt very safe. We were even more delighted when we found 2 amazing tavernas within walking distance from the apartment. Each one was 5 minutes walk, one right and one left along the road. Both of these served excellent food and were always busy with people driving to them from Loggos or other towns! The village also had a small shop and bakery. Our favourite beach on the island - Kipiadi - was the one closest to the property too. We highly recommend that you hire a boat from Loggos harbour for the day so that you can explore Antipaxos with it's beautiful, turquoise sea away from the other tourists that come in large boats from Corfu and the mainland.
Villa Anthea is an English family's holiday home, simple, functional yet charming. It suited us very well and by the end of the week we were all very sorry to leave. I can highly recommend the property and hope many more people will enjoy such a wonderful place on such a beautiful, quiet island. We will certainly go again.

“Overpriced and uncared for”

I booked this house in Paxos for its rural location as I was planning to work on a book in the quiet of the olive groves. However, when I arrived the place was festooned with spiders' webs and the cupboards were dusty and the bed linen was stained and yellow. There were broken tiles in the bathroom. The place was renovated 40 years ago and needs an update. After dusting and sweeping the house and garden I contacted the owner got complain. She asked me to tell the neighbour. I did. No action was taken. I received no more emails from the owner in response and there was no effort to put things right. There is no service. I viewed a 2-bed apartment with 2 bathrooms on the coast with a daily maid service for one third of the price. This was way above the local rate.

Liked best: Paxos was a wonderful island with many kind people. The bus stopped outside the house on request to pick me up and drop me off. Loggos is one of the most beautiful coastal villages in Greece, but it is a 30 minute walk up and down the hill. Taxi 6 Eu
Liked least: Total lack of customer care
