“lovely apartment in a peaceful setting”

The apartment is on the third floor of the complex, there are no lifts so this means a walk up (and down) around 40 steps. The swimming pool was clean and great to cool down in after a hard days sun bathing on the beach!
The room itself was clean and well furnished, Towels and bed linen where changed weekly. There are a couple of small supermarkets for provisions, several nearby restaurants and a hand full of shacks on the beach. if you want a laid back peaceful beach holiday this ticks all the boxes, but if you want a bit of nightlife look elsewhere.
We had a great stay and would go back.

“On the third floor”
Reviewed 20 February 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Stayed here for 3 weeks Apartment is clean with all you need. It is centrally located, close to restaurants, the best is J6 just down the road. There is no way you can call this a luxury apartment, it is functional, but on the third floor, quite tiresome climbing the stairs each day. The beach is not to far away, it is a nice beach, with several good shacks. We never used the swimming pool, it seemed to be in the shade most of the day. There is a local bus stop just across the street, which goes to Benaulim & Margao, very handy, but ideally you would need a car or scooter to get around.

“Disappointing considering the other reviews”

The apartment is on the top level (lots of stairs up) and has balcony with view of the local area (particularly the unappealing construction site immediately in front). The apt had AC (both AC units needed some attention) and was not cleaned very thoroughly. Shower curtain rod and bathroom window were interesting to say the least. The apartment was furnished in modern (IKEA) style with a reasonably comfortable bed. We ended up buying ice cube trays, shampoo, facial tissue, toilet paper (there was an initial supply), electrical adapter, etc. Apt building had a gate and security (latter not always there). The Wi-Fi was not dependable and in the end seemed to work best with the dongle plugged into my laptop, but we did go long periods without connectivity (not necessarily the fault of our hosts).
Several restaurants were nearby serving local and international cuisine. Cash only at restaurants and grocery store. Higher end souvenir store took credit card.
Quiet location within 1 km of beach - which is not particularly well maintained. For a nicer beach go to the nearby Ramada Inn. The local signage is heavily influenced by the Russian tourists that used to flock to this area. There are many stray dogs wandering around, but they were not vicious. The local people are friendly and make good use of their vehicle horns to warn of their approach. For specialized shopping or USD exchange you needed to go to Margao (1600 INR return by tourist cab).
We were met at the airport by a driver who had patiently waited for our one hour delayed Air India flight. The cost to the apt was 3,000 INR return (we later had half of this refunded as we went overland for our next travel leg).
India has large problems with cash availability as of Jan 2017. ATMs are shuttered or empty. Limited locations to change USD to INR. Thus having few local shops/restaurants that took credit cards is an issue when if you do find a working ATM you can only withdraw the equivalent of $35 USD. At the Mumbai airport I was able to exchange $70 USD, but with heavy fees/taxes.
Hosts live abroad but their siblings Baldwin and Cassie were very helpful. Cassie provided some home baked goods on arrival and assisted with the complicated procedure of getting an Indian sim card. Baldwin was the go to for everything from minor apt deficiencies, getting laundry done, organizing drives with chauffeur. On the latter, though, despite being very specific for our final departure journey we got an uncomfortable car that reeked of tobacco smoke with a driver that did not speak much English and did not have the promised GPS. The trip that could have been ten to twelve hours ended up being 20 hours of discomfort and frustration. This was after having paid top dollar for what we expected to be a luxury ride.
New Year’s Eve there were multiple sets of fireworks that could be enjoyed from the balcony.
Overall although we were able to decompress from our flights from Canada at Whispering Palms, we will not be returning. Not recommended.

“Very modern apartment”

Lovely apartment on third floor. Very clean, cleaned every three days. 10 mins walk to the beach with some good beach shacks.
Restaurants are only a few minute walk from the apartment. All were really good. Taxi rank just around the corner. We stayed in three different places in South Goa this time and Zalor was our favourite.
I would recommend this apartment.
