This is an expensive villa and we expected the service to match the price. On another review I saw the comment that the owner couldn't do enough for them. We saw the owner and Erietta, his assistant, on arrival to explain certain things and hand over the keys, then we saw Erietta again the night before we left. She kindly gave us a parting gift of some olive oil, chocolates and lollies that we could not take on the plane but would have been more appreciated at the start of our stay.
It was disappointing to discover that breakfast is not included in the price of the villa. We assumed it was, because in the previous villa we rented in Zakynthos, a woman came each morning to make our breakfast and even offered to do our washing.
At this villa to cook our breakfast they wanted to charge us an extra 160 euros per day for a continental breakfast or an extra 240 euros per day for a Greek breakfast! That's a bit rough considering the price of the accommodation!
On the first day we arrived there were 6 recliners by the pool then either late at night or early in the morning they removed two of them. We thought it strange that they wouldn't leave them there in case we had guests, which we did have so we couldn't all recline by the pool. Luckily they didn't remove the extra chairs. There were no bathrobes in the house and when I mentioned it to Erietta at the end of our stay she said, 'oh, we have them but you have to ask for them'. Really? Why don't you just put them in the bedrooms like everybody else does? If they're not there they're not being offered.
The ensuites are quite dated and not up to the standard of the rest of the villa. What initially looked like a dirty bathroom is actually wear and tear on the basins, taps etc. If you're advertising this property as a luxury villa and charging accordingly, then you have to bear certain maintenance costs to keep it up to date.
Overall, Frido Villa is a luxury sized property, the pool is great and the view is the best you can get. It's a beautiful villa, with large rooms and an office area where I could work when I needed to. It's nicely furnished and there's a laptop on the patio to play music. The sunsets from the patio are spectacular.
If you updated the ensuites and included breakfast like the other luxury villas we've stayed at in Zakynthos then your standard of service will be on the same level as the others.
This villa is just fantastic. I stayed there with my family in September and it was the best choice we could make. The Villa was fully equipped with anything we needed. Big spaces, privacy and luxury. But the most important thing is the view from every spot of the Villa ! The owner was very polite and helpful ! We are definitely going back this year ! Thank you for everything !
