I don't normally write reviews but honestly this has upset me so much.

This place has really good reviews so I thought it would be fine. We did not get welcomed by Irene, we have been here 5 hours and still no sign of Irene. We do not feel welcome at all. I am sitting here in tears wondering what on earth we are going to do.

I booked a room with a DOUBLE bed, I was very clear about this as I have a disability and I need this. When we arrived, no one was around. We were told via email that we could check in at 12. We got here just after 12. The only person we could find was a cleaning lady who did not speak English. We asked where the reception was. She pointed us to a table and chairs so we sat down, not knowing what was going on.

She then cleaned our room. It wasn't even ready. Why tell us that we can check in from 12 then? We waited around 1.5 hours. I had not eaten yet as we had just come from the airport. I needed the toilet very badly. When we got in the room the floors were wet, this is dangerous. I noticed immediately that it had 2 single beds and a couch. That was it.

I called them and they said someone would be down to my room within a couple of minutes or they would call me back. They did not call me back and no one came to my room. I called them and called them and no one picked up. We waited hours. By around 3pm, I became very agitated (I am autistic) and emailed them asking them to come immediately. I had actually been emailing them earlier as well and I asked multiple times for someone to come and no one did. Definitely no warm welcome from Irene, just confusion.

Finally a man came to my door and claimed that he had tried to come but assumed we were asleep?! Why would I be asleep when I was specifically asking for them to come? Why not knock on the door? We had the door closed because it's hot and we had the air conditioning on.

He wasn't very nice to be honest. I was clearly quite distressed (autistic remember) and I said "I need a double bed!" - his response: "well I would like a Lamborghini". That is so inappropriate! I need one because I am disabled. He then got angry and yelled and started waving his arms and I felt very intimidated and unsafe.

I have been trying to resolve this for hours but booking.com can't find me anything else in the area because surprise, surprise, everything is booked at this late stage. The accommodation are blaming booking.com but there must be some responsibility with the accommodation to actually check how your rooms are being advertised? It clearly said double bed and it still says double bed if you check for bookings for future dates.

They also tried to tell me that check in is 2pm but I have it in writing that they said 12pm. This has entirely wasted my day and I did nothing wrong.

So now, I, as a disabled woman am stuck with nowhere to sleep. Booking.com won't help because the alternatives are £800+ (when this place was around £240 - big difference). The villas claim that they have no other rooms available. Nothing they can do. They have said I can stay in this room or I can leave, those are my options. I can't sleep here. I can't stay elsewhere without paying a lot of extra money.

This is so unfair and I don't feel that I have had the experience that others have had at all. If Irene (or someone) just came and met me when I asked in the beginning - they emailed me at 12:19 to say go and meet Peter in the bar - but since my signal is so bad here and the wifi is terrible, I didn't get it until about 1pm - why didn't they just come to me? Anyway, if they had, maybe I wouldn't have had to wait so long and gotten so upset.

It's now nearly 6pm and I am desperately trying to find us more accommodation. There is nothing! We are just going to leave anyway as we don't want to stay any longer. If they had done anything to make us feel more welcome I would not have felt so compelled to write this review but we have gotten nothing, no warm welcome, the room isn't what we ordered and we are now in the position of having nowhere to stay.

Booking.com are now saying that is is the accommodation's responsibility - they are both blaming each other. The listing did say it's a 1 minute walk from the beach and booking.com would not have written this so the accommodation are definitely partly at fault here. It's not a 1 minute walk, more like 20 minutes. And it says free wifi but the wifi is not usable, I literally can't even load Google. I am using mobile data right now but that is barely working as well.

So I feel it's false advertising - maybe this place is good when things go perfectly but if anything goes wrong I would avoid because it has been so stressful for us, my husband is also in tears now and nothing about this situation is okay.

I don't know what part of "I can't sleep in a single bed" they do not understand, I tend to need more space because of my disability (it affects my joints), hence why we booked somewhere that sleeps four (when there are only two of us), but all we got was a couch and two single beds. Definitely does not sleep four. Two maybe. Two single people. Why would a family room with two adults NOT come with a double bed? Two single beds should not even be an option.

Thank you very much about your review. As we told you we were fully booked and that was the type of accommodation that you have booked. We have being informed that booking.com find you a place the same day so i hope it's better there and you feel secure and happy.
Thank you

Take us back!
As a family of five, with an extended family party, we recently returned from this gem of place.
Tranquil; spotless and welcoming. The best way to holiday, and in perfect surroundings. The view - wow!
Thanks to Irene and team for being such great hosts. Especially the Clown experience. Bravo!!

We hired a number of rooms being a group of 12. Each room was spacious, clean & serviceable. Beds were comfortable & bathrooms were good. Views are spectacular. Another positive is that We received lots of contact & help from management (Angela) prior to the trip including guidance & advice about a venue to celebrate a special occasion & boat excursion. She also arranged airport transport for us, Very helpful. Would definitely recommend Garbis Villas.

We have just returned from Garbis Villas in Kefalonia. Once again we were not disappointed. The villas are spotless - cleaned every day and the views from the villas around the pool area are amazing.
The owner Irene, is a fantastic hostess with the mostest!!! She goes out of her way to make sure that her guests have an enjoyable holiday and makes a point of speaking to everyone every day.
Alexandra keeps all the apartments clean together with the surrounding pool area.
With it being a busy period, Alexandra was busy all the time and in spite of the intense heat she manages to smile and make everyone happy in their apartment.
We love spending time in Garbis Villas - it is so relaxing and quiet (most of the time!). The beach is not far away and all the local restaurants are accessible.
This is a real find and it is a pleasure to stay there.
Thank you Irene, Alexandra and all the Garbis family.
Hope to see you again soon xxxx

We've just got back from a wonderful week at these fabulous apartments. We were looking for peace and tranquility and that's exactly what we got. We had a one bedroomed apartment which was spotlessly clean (kept so by Alexandra who never stops!). Huge thanks to Irene for a wonderful stay (and for accommodating our late checkout) and to Angela for sorting our taxi and other bits. Like other reviews, Garbis Villas are up a hill but with views like this, who cares?! The view is spectacular. The beach is a 15 minute walk down (there are tavernas and shops on the way and on the beach) and a bit longer on the way back (it is quite steep in one place). It's only a 5 min walk from the Garbis to a good selection of restaurants though (The Olive Lounge, where we ate 4 times - is wonderful) and a couple of supermarkets. We had a car for 2 days and like others, I think a car is a good idea as there are so many lovely places to explore on the island (unfortunately we had a couple of days of really bad weather - very unusual at this time of year - the car enabled us to still get out and about). I would return in a heartbeat and can't recommend enough.
