Hi,

We went to this hotel last year when it had just opened and were extremely impressed, therefore booking again this year. A number of factors weren't nearly as good this year such as the breakfasts often being luke warm, no fresh fruit anymore, service had slipped a bit (but still good) etc.
However, there was a major downside for me and my husband (and pretty much all the other Brits there this week) which was the hotels "acquisition" of an absolutely beautiful puppy. Before I go into detail I must say that the hotel has taken this puppy in when I understand it was abandoned and have given it shelter and food, so they have done many good things to help. However, Greek standards of looking after dogs and English standards vary drastically and therefore we found ourselves most upset at the situation.
The dog is chained to a lampost outside the hotel at the start of a path to the beach. It is chained up all day and has some dried food and some water but is clearly totally bored and as a puppy it needs regular company and exercise. Therefore the Brits managed to get in a bit of routine to help and it would be great if some of you who have forthcoming visits could continue to help (we offered to give the dog a good home at our expense but were told it was staying at the hotel by the manager - god knows what will happen in winter when everything shuts down) :o(
a) She loves company - cuddles and strokes go down very well esp tickly tummy.
b) She is teething right now (watch your ankles!!!) and is desperate for things to chew - there is a pet shop selling various chews and toys on the island should you wish to by her a treat, or a nice fresh stick off the beach proves very tasty it seems.
c) She doesn't like going to the toilet near where she is chained (well it is near her bed afterall) so we took her for walk in the bushes first thing in the morning and again in the afternoon for her to see to her needs away from "home".
d) The hotel is happy for anyone to walk her - pls pls do. She loves it and most importantly needs the exercise.
e) She is intrigued and a little scared of the sea. If you take her for a walk it would be good for her to overcome her fear and this will be her main way of cooling down when the real summer heat comes (assuming people take her out and don't leave her chained to the post in the sun).
f) She has a flea collar on kindly provided by the hotel. As she is growing it is getting rather tight. Pls make sure it isn't too tight if you see her.

In summary seeing this beautiful dog tethered all day made our holiday less enjoyable and there were even tears on departure having to leave her there not knowing if she would get a happy home or whether the hotel would indeed keep her there chained up.

It would be wonderful if you are visiting if you could look after her a bit and check she is OK and maybe even post an update (at least then I will know she is OK!!).

Enjoy your hols!!
Hannah

This is a lovely hotel, but before it can claim 5* status there are a number of problems to be sorted out. We booked a junior suite but only had a room with private bathroom - in my view this did not constitute a suite. The rooms were very well maintained and the cleaning of the rooms excellent.

As a 5* hotel the location did not seem appropriate in that it was very close to a camp site and couldn't boast the surrounding facilities associated with that classification.

The prices charged for drinks, food and spa facilities were exorbitant resulting in there being few people sat in the bar in the evening - thus very little atmosphere.

It was lovely to have a private beach area, but the sunbeds were very poor, did not match and generally looked rather tatty ! Also there was no hotel service offered on the beach.

The breakfast lacked variety from day to day and it seemed poor to be offered tinned fruit on an island full of fresh produce. We only had dinner at the hotel on two occasions and, whilst the food was good, there was little choice.

I would, however, praise the overall service and, in particular, would mention Alexandra on Reception. She was always cheerful and ready to help with any query.

This is a lovely hotel in an ideal location between Golden Beach and Skala Potamias. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard. The breakfast choices are good, although not that clear that there are lots more options. The hot items seemed to be just warm. You felt that there were still teething problems particuarly in the restaurant area. The girl on reception is so very helpful and always appeared smiley.
The biggest complaint amongst guests seemed to be the price of drinks. We paid 10 euro for 2 hot chocolates, but all the drinks were very expensive, hence the bar area was empty in the evening. Lots of nice restaurants and bars close by to choose from.
To summarise a lovely hotel and holiday despite the weather being particularly poor.

We stayed here last week of August and the first week of September. Rooms were of a high standard and beautifully cleaned every day with a second service to clear up and replace wet towels. Our balcony was over the restaurant and I was a little concerned initially but in fact we had lovely views and the hotel is very quiet so it was not a problem. Breakfasts were adequate and you could have anything you wanted.... as long as you asked!! It is served until 1pm ... highly unusual. The gym was small and could only really accomodate a max of 4 people at any one time. We had bed and breakfast so I can't comment on the other food but would highly recommend playa-de-oro restaurant a 5 min stroll form the hotel. We ate there a lot and the food was excellent surpassing any others we tried.
All in all a smashing little hotel for a complete break or honeymoon couples. As its new a few crinkles need ironed out but and the staff work tirelessly. Well worth a visit
