You will first notice the view - the sunset here is second to none. Then the service - unobtrusive but genuinely kind and warm. Then the food - we stayed for a week and the daily chef's recommendations were always tasty and inspired, and the menu had also some proper gems, like the octopus carpaccio, the lamb chops, and I am bound to forget some. The wine list, although not the cheapest, has brilliant Greek wines. Maybe the desserts are rather less interesting. But overall, while this is definitely more expensive than the average taverna, the restaurant is excellent value for the experience!

We were staying at the Delfino Blu Boutique Hotel where the Kohili restaurant is located. We had read the old reviews and we were apprehensive. We have been traveling from another country since very early in the morning and arrived late in the evening so we decided to eat at the hotel. My wife was not feeling well and we asked what could the kitchen offer to settle her stomach. They produced a wonderful fish soup (see picture) that did the trick. We were very surprised by the imaginative menu, the presentation of the food and, of course, by its quality. So, we asked. It turned out that starting with this season (Summer 2017) the restaurant is under new management with Miltos Armenis as chef and Stephanos as the maitre d'/head waiter. The chef is a young upcoming professional who has flair in his cooking and uses a lot of local fresh products in interesting new combinations. He clearly takes pride in his work as evidenced by the presentation of the food on the appropriate type of plate. We noticed him during the buffet breakfast watching from the kitchen door what guests were selecting. We ate there every morning and for all evenings but one when we went to Corfu city. This is one of the best restaurants we have experienced in Greece during the last 20 years. It was unexpected and therefore an extra pleasure, We so no reason to go anywhere else. There were specials every evening so we got in the habit of ordering one thing from the menu and the special. Not even one "average" meal the whole time. The waiter staff was very professional - attentive and very knowledgeable. The head waiter knew his wines very well and his suggestions, when we indicated what we liked, were excellent. The restaurant is open to the public, not only to hotel guests.

I have eaten at the Delfino Blu several times in 2008/9 and have always really liked it and had good food and service.

I suggested to my parents that we eat there during our stay this year as for one reason or another they had never got round to eating there and quite fancied giving it a try especially after we had said how lovely it was.

My husband went to book a table during the day for 10 of us and was instructed by Kostas to deal with one of the waiters who would take all the details. The waiter (who shall remain nameless…) then proceeded to pull faces and sigh and make out like it was a massive inconvenience to accommodate us and eventually said he would do it.

We turned up at 8pm that night to be told that it was too windy to sit outside and had no tables free indoors so they had cancelled our table!! Well, let’s just say that they were told in no uncertain terms that it was not too windy and we wanted them to sort the table sharpish!!

We were told to go to the pool bar to wait whilst they arranged the table and so we did. However, the bartender couldn’t have had less personality or looked more fed up…..he was completely miserable to the point that we actually left the bar without waiting for our drinks and just waited near our table.

Eventually the table is ready and the same waiter who took the booking is our waiter – rude, condescending and disdainful come to mind when thinking of his behaviour throughout the meal – the food was good (although we did have to send some fries back as they were cold) but I could tell that nobody was really enjoying the meal because of how we had been treated. The waiter must have overheard some of our less than happy comments because at the end of the meal he bought us free drinks and plates of fruit – but the damage was done.

By the time we left we were really annoyed and I now feel that if you are not staying at the hotel then you are not always treated particularly well.

I have eaten at some of the best hotels in the world (Savoy in London, George Cinq in Paris and the Danieli in Venice to name but three) and although I wasn’t staying in the hotel, I was treated with nothing but courtesy and respect. Maybe the Delfino Blu should take note that tonight’s diners could be next year’s hotel guests……?

We were lucky enough to be staying in San Stefanos in June 2012, no sooner were we there than we fell in love with it. There are some lovely restaurants to eat at, some being typically greek, others, more European. My husband and I tended to walk passed Delphino Blue on our way to the restaurants in the evening and from day 1 we said we would like to try the food here. I have to say we were welcomed with open arms and the food, service and view was second to none. It was the most romantic restaurant in San Stef and we ate there twice, both times we had the most wonderful time. Our second visit was on our last evening and we were invited to come to the beach bar the following day, unfortunatley, as we were leaving we couldn't do this, however, we have booked to come back to San Stef next year and Delphino Blu is on the top of our list. Thank you all for helping to make our holiday so special.
