The Perch is a beautiful spot in Oyster Bay on the Sunshine Coast of BC. Perfect place to eject from the world and retreat to a loft on the hill. The Perch has everything you need and more. The kitchen is perfect for a gourmet feast or dinning options are a short drive away. Although the view, fire place & tub made it hard to want to leave. We look forward to our next visit!!!
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at The Perch and loved every minute of it! There is a feeling of being surrounded by the forest and almost up in the trees. The quiet was our favourite part.
The house itself is gorgeous and the care put into the details are obvious. We had everything we needed. Although we came in the winter I still enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch and enjoying a cup of coffee. I can only imagine how much more time we would spend out there if it had been summer.
We also headed out to Francis Point for a gorgeous walk. It was hard to leave the comfort of the fireplace but well worth it!
We have stayed at both the cabin, which is down the path and closer to the water and also the Perch which is more at the top of a rock bluff with a beautiful view of the mountains and trees and water below. The Perch is very spacious and modern with full kitchen which is very well supplied with all the utensils and dishes you could need if you want to do your own cooking while there. Large wrap around deck with bbq and table to enjoy outdoor meals. The wood burning fireplace and supplied firewood is great for the cool evenings ( we were there during cold spell - snow etc ) . Normally you can drive right to the Perch steps or ramp which is so handy although when we came, there was an unusual amount of snow so we just needed to walk down the path a short distance. Brent and Kathleen are amazing hosts who were on site in a separate residence if we needed anything but still left us with total privacy. We look foreward to our next visit at the Perch.
If you are looking for a get away place, stop your search and book this place. We found here a gourges nature, peaceful atmosphere, unusual quiet and had a great family time on Christmas holidays. Dear Kathleen, thank you for this opportunity. We loved your place and looking forward to come again.
Arriving at The Perch is like sinking into the soaking tub in the bedroom: all warmth, comfort, and ease. We spent a wonderful long weekend at The Perch, reading on the couch in front of the crackling fire, cooking up meals in the well-stocked kitchen, and sneaking an extra few minutes of sleep in the comfortable bed. The house is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, making the most of windows on every wall to bring the outside in -- and it is a stunning outside, green and lush with views on the bay.
Other perks: Madeira Park is close by for grocery trips, with several cute places to grab a morning coffee. Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park is an easy drive away for a hike (worth it even in the rain). Kathleen and Brent were helpful, friendly, and responsive when we had questions; it felt like they truly cared that we have the best experience possible.
Overall, we wouldn't have changed a thing, and look forward to returning one day.
