I stayed at La Veranera for a yoga retreat arranged by Zen Yoga in San Juan del Sur and was extremely pleased with the experience. The guest house is very lovely - inspiring total relaxation and peace. Luise, the hostess, was so welcoming and provided the perfect level of service - catering to each guest need yet never being intrusive - one of the highlights of service is that Luise soon had a morning cup of my preferred tea waiting for me in the morning (wow!). The property felt secluded, private, and perfect for a yoga retreat and the food was delicious (and healthy). I really enjoyed the whole experience.

Lovely house on a secluded beach.
Luise, the manager, is a great person & was extremely helpful. Gonzalo who also works there was super friendly and made things easy for us. This is a great place if you want to chill out.The best part was picking up a board, walking 50 meters and surfing an empty beach!

Would recommend it if you want peace and quiet, nice walks, amazing sunsets, or just reading a book by the pool. Consider renting a car if you plan on visiting around during the day as it's a 20 min drive from San Juan Del Sur.

Beautiful house, spacious rooms, garden with spectacular sea and beachview.
The service and vibe were fine. Including the attention and cooking by Luise and Gonzalo. It was the start of our vacation and it could not have been better. This house in combination with the great and quiet beach.

Lovely guest house. Luise was a star looking after us and providing great service and food. Up to one hour drive from San Juan del Sur. Beach was great but windy at times. Would definitely go there again.

When people kept telling us that El Coco was one of the nicest beaches in Nicaragua we were expecting a fairly crowded place. It is not. Access to the beach is controlled by a handful of beach hotels, and a never saw more than 10 people on the beach at any one time. There are hardly any restaurant or shop options unless you go all the way to San Juan del Sur.

La Veranera is one of the beach properties. It is spacious and airy, keeping a cool temperature throughout the day. The rooms are kept very simple. There is a swimming pool in the back, facing the beach.
Besides us there was only a family of four, so there was family style meals around a single terrace table, prepared by Gabriella, the cook, Gonzalo, the handyman/maid/waiter, and Luise, the manager. We enjoyed their company as well as that of our fellow guests.
