“Unique hotel, best value right in Jabiru but still pricey”
Reviewed 20 July 2011

Our family of 5 stayed for 1 night in this lovely, spacious and clean 2 bedroom apartment with a good kitchen. Front deck had an outdoor eating area which was perfect for breakfast, but indoor dining table also available. The bathroom was out the back, but it was private for our unit and just a few steps undercover out the back door. We had 1 room with double bed and a single, then 2nd room with 2 singles. There was also a lounge in the kitchen/dining that we could have slept our 3rd child on. We paid $225/night which is good for being right in the heart of Kakadu at Jabiru, and we offset the cost by staying 1 night at the very reasonable Goymarr Tourist Park just on the south side of Kakadu.

We stayed in a tent with a double bed, which was very nice but a bit hot at times. The bathroom in the little building outside was nice, you do have to share with the bungalow next to you. The kitchen was very well equipped and we had some nice dinners outside. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. We did think however that the price is too high, it is not budget accommodation.

We stayed in one of the bush bungalows for three nights. The camp kitchens were well equiped and the private bath/shower that each bungalow is assigned was clean. It could be a little intimidating for a night visit to the loo if your not used to all the little creatures of the night. The fruit bats were very noisey but loved to watch them fighting over a branch when they back to the trees in the early hours. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The bungalows do not have any a/c but they do have a large fan and the walls are not solid so there is plenty of airflow. There is small sink and bar fridge in the tent and a small table and chairs under cover just outside the door. I would suggest anyone with a mobility problem get one of the cabins instead of the bungalows since it is quite a big step to get inside. If your camping with a tent or travel trailer you will be at the end close to the road, but the bungalows get no road noise. As the name implies there is no lake and no pool but both are a short distance away. Jabiru has a market and a GREAT bakery that sell just about anything you could want for a snack or lunch.
It is in a great location and we spent the days away exploring.

Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip due to unforseen work commitments and gave what we thought was the required 48 hours minimum notice, as per their confirmation email. We did not receive our deposit back as really Joan Mercer was seeking close to 72 hours notice. It has left a bitter taste in our mouth. After the conversation I've just had with her there is no way we would choose to stay at Lakeview Park and if you think there is a remote chance that you are going to have to cancel then I would not recommend you to stay here either.

Litchfield Safari Park, best location to see Litchfield no back tracking to get back to your accomodation. We stayed in a camper van and the amenties were great, a bit old, but clean and very spacious showers, etc. They have great grassed areas, in fact the best grassed caravan park I have ever stayed at. The owners were very helpful and entertaining. They have several on site tents, which I did have a look at and they were basic but very clean most with ensuites. They dont have a huge swimming pool, they have an above ground water tank, which u can swim in whenever you like which was quite adequate, if you want a huge resort this is not for you, but we loved it.
