“Sensational!”
Reviewed 30 March 2012

We were planning to stay only two nights, but Alan and Lisa made us feel so welcome, the room and the gardens were so good, that we stayed five nights instead!

The studio room we had was great - big and very comfortable, and looking out onto the garden and the pool was wonderful. We had breakfast on the 'terrace' most mornings, and I spent quite a bit of time round the pool. Being off the highway made it very quiet, and the garden setting ensured lots of birds.

Nothing was too much trouble for Alan and Lisa - wonderful hosts, very helpful and full of good ideas and suggestions. We were very sorry to leave! and will definately be back again.

Room Tip: studios are good and big, one bedroom units are very nice and the two bedroom units are huge

We stayed two nights with Alan & Lisa at Equestrian. Both Alan & Lisa were readily available to help in any way they could to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms were spacious and comfy, kitchenette, laundry, even dvd's to compensate for the NZ TV prgrammes. They even heated up the hot tub for us to soak after we had endured a long day kayaking and tramping Able Tasman NP which was ever so good to ease the aching muscles. We would most definitely stay again. Thank you Alan & Lisa!

I stayed here for 3 nights while doing the Abel Tasman. One of the tours was cancelled and Alan was helpful in trying to find another tour or something I would be interested in doing - not a problem in that beautiful part of the world. The room was large, very clean and quiet. It was too cold to use the pool, but the pool and yard were beautiful and just sorry that the weather wasn't a little better so I could fully enjoy them. The room itself has a nice kitchenette, but they advise to use the barbeque if cooking fish or something smelly - they will charge an extra cleaning fee if there are oders that are difficult to get rid of. It could be an issue if the weather is bad and you want to cook inside, but I didn't have any problems and appreciated the nice clean smell of the room. The location is about 2 blocks from the main strip in Motueka and the major grocery store which is very handy. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: All rooms look out to the garden and pool area, so I don't think there is a 'bad' room a...

We stayed here for two nights in early March 2012 and were really well looked after by Alan and Lisa. The accommodation was spotless, the rooms spacious and we had a comfortable and quiet two nights with easy access to town, its restuarants and supermarkets. Well worth seeking out. They live "over the shop" and are keen to ensure that their guests are well looked after.

Room Tip: Ask if one of their larger suites is available.

I stayed at the Equestrian for two nights. The hosts were very helpful with setting up my Abel Tasman water taxi trip. It's only a 20 min drive to Kaiteriteri to catch the water taxi. The room had a carport in front, which was nice. The room was probably the largest I stayed in during my 23 day trip. The room was an open design with a kitchenette (two burner stove top and mini fridge), dining table and chairs, love seat to watch TV, and nice big king size bed. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a shower with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The patio area had a table and chairs and faced the gardens and the pool. The Equestrian has a unheated pool in the middle of the complex. They also had a BBQ area. The location is about a 10 min walk to the main street (High St) with restaurants, bars, and New World grocery store. The Motueka Sunday Market is also less than a 10 min walk and takes place on Sunday morning in the I-site parking lot. I thoroughly enjoyed my restful stay at the Equestrian.
