We stopped for a quick lunch at the restaurant attached to the hotel and it was awful. The noodles were literally just pot noodles, and the pizza was inedible. They also tried to charge us for the larger sizes of our dishes, when we ordered small.

The hotel was defenetely not the highlight of our tryp. Der AC did‘nt work, but the staff came and repaired it, they brouth us an extra blanquet, ( Smelled Humid though) and they tryed everthing to make us feel better. The place makes you feel in the soviet union in the 80s or even the DDR.The breakfast was‘nt good, but to be honest: wat do you expect for 30€ x night? ( sure you‘d find better places in CatBa island, but it was‘nt so bad for 3 nights)
The location is right in the main street and 100 yards away from our tour: CatBa Ventures...so that was really good!
all together i would suggest them a new coat of paint to the whole thing, and maybe a new Hotel management to update to the modern standards, because the potencial is there!

We stayed there for 2 nights in Jan 2018. After reading a lot of comments on this hotel, this is what I can definitely confirm (or infirm):

- When we checked in, our key (card) didn’t work. We went back down twice to the reception and they ended up giving us a simplw key because we couldn’t open the room, so we had to keep both.

- The rooms are huge. We also got the chance to have an amazing view on the bay and the harbour. Unfortunately, the cleanliness just isn’t good enough. The bathroom is a mess (rust all over, provided slippers were very dirty, etc). There were ants pretty much everywhere including the bed (which I battled for quite a moment). The bed sheets seemed clean though (I insist : seemed !). Nobody came to make the room during our stay so in the end there was no water and toilet paper left, but fortunately we were already leaving.

- The breakfast was ok. You can choose to have omelette, fried eggs etc or even french toasts. There are fruits, good coffee, juice and water. The « hot dishes » (dumplings, fried noodles, etc) were a bit cold though. I didn’t see any insects or ants on the tables or near the fruits.

- The staff was very nice and friendly (both men and women). Especially a sweet lady at the reception desk was very helpful and spoke good english. My boyfriend forgot his jacket in the room and when the receptionist went to check the room for the check out, my boyfriend got it back thanks to him.

- The pool was disappointing (cold, covered, no transats or couches, an empty bar).

Overall, it isn’t a horrible hotel but they could improve some things. I wouldn’t return there. URGENT AND NECESSARY TO IMPROVE THE CLEANLINESS !!!!!!!!!!!

To the hotel manager : no need to reply to this message saying basic things like « we will take your comment into account and improve things, and hope you come back », you replied this to comments in 2016 and your hotel is still very dirty. Just do something, dude.

Our room was a good size for a double with a stunning view over the harbour. Clean bathroom and comfortable bed. The breakfast was disappointing with an option to freshly cook eggs but little else. The staff were vacant, I don't think anyone spoke to us other than at the check in. We only stayed one night so it was just what we wanted.

Will get to mundane criticisms of this garbage hotel below, but first I want to address the major issue I had with it:
on our second night staying there, a hotel employee entered our room without knocking, even though we had a Do Not Disturb sign on the door. Luckily we were dressed and decent, but we were freaked out nonetheless. Complained to the front desk, who glibly insisted it was a mere mistake of their computer system that said the room was empty. We said that was no excuse, that we felt unsafe and wanted a refund. At first they refused, then proceeded to laugh at us. I get it, pompous Americans aren’t used to the expected lack of privacy of a former Stalinist state. But nowhere else we’ve stayed, in the north or south of the country, have we experienced incompetence and rudeness like at this place.

Now, as promised, the mundane qualms with this garbage hotel:

Room had nice views but no comfortable surface to enjoy them from. Chairs/sofa were awkward and bed was atrocious, especially for the price.

Cockroaches in the bathroom, on the 8th floor no less. Hot water lasted about a minute.

Wifi was poor quality, logs you out constantly. There was an option for high speed internet, but they required you log into Facebook. I don’t mean the way sites like Spotify ask you to log in with your already signed-in Facebook account. They want you to enter your FB username and password on their own website. I’ve never seen anything like that anywhere. Seemed like a scam.

The only reason to come to this island is for the stunning natural beauty. The food is bad and this hotel is worse. Stay on a nice cruise ship instead.
