I really like the fish cakes and they are consistently tasty with the balance of spice, crunchy coating, filling and flavour being just right.
We tried the fish finger bap too. The fish is not a ‘birds eye’ fish finger. It’s cuts of cod coated in a crunchy coating. Very nice.
The bap was a bit dry so we left that.
The service is good and they do care about their customers.

Stopped for a snack while visiting the Cider Press. Drinks and cake for two and naked vegan burger for the other. Thea and coffee ok and the carrot cake was very moist and flavourful. The burger was ok, but came without the tahini that would have made it less dry. Quite expensive for two pieces of cake, one tea, one coffee and one vegan burger.

We often go here and we tried the fish cakes. They are superb, just the right amount of spice, full of fish and coated in a beautiful covering.
Gladly recommended.
The staff are ok, it’s dog friendly, just watch the drinks prices though.
.50p for tap water???

We visited on a Monday lunchtime, it wasn't busy. One of our party is on a fat free diet for health reasons so we asked for a ham sandwich without butter to be told that the sandwiches are all pre made so that wasn't possible, we then asked for a jacket potato with beans but again that wasn't possible as they didn't have any beans. We requested that they ask the chef what he could prepare for us that was fat free - after a few minutes she came back and said that the could do us a pasty (so high in fat - unbelieveable!). We said, you have bread, you have ham, so please just put a piece of ham into two pieces of bread - this was eventually agreed to. The food when it arrived was very nice but the service was poor, the staff unable to use their initiative and the chef worryingly wasn't aware of the ingredients of something he was about to serve. The whole place looked like it could do with a good clean.

After first eating in here back in the summer and being impressed I have been so disappointed the last two visits. I just assumed they must have had a busy (early) Saturday lunchtime as every table was cluttered with used crockery; left-over food etc. Thought twice about staying and many potential customers just walked out. Anyway, decided to clear one table as I waited for my friend. Nobody eating; nobody serving and absolutely nobody attempting to clear the tables. What a mess! Should have left then. Approached the counter and waited whilst a young lady served herself a coffee and took it into the back. She returned to take my order and our drinks arrived promptly. We waited......and waited....and waited. NO STAFF insight! My friend went up to the counter and shouted. A young waitress appeared asking what would we like to order!!? My friend explained that we had been waiting for over 30 minutes for our food despite the fact that there were no other customers. Our meals arrived eventually and we were disgusted! The ham, egg and chips - cold, dry and obviously re-heated chips covered with 2 congealed eggs. The only edible part was the ham. My friend's meal of jacket potato with bacon and cheese was no better. The potato had been hurriedly microwaved and was anaemic with a dry skin; the bacon was underdone, cold and fatty. Because the whole meal was barely warm the cheese had not melted and just lay on the top. We did complain and were told that it would be reported to the chef? With drinks the bill came to over £20. An utter waste of money and we will never go there again - especially now another restaurant has opened up nearby.
