“Lovely hotel, lovely food”
Reviewed 13 June 2011

Arrived early, but was shown to the terrace and given tea and coffee while we waited for the room to be made ready. Room was nice, though I think the rooms on the first floor have the best views. Dinner in the hotel was very nice, though I'm glad we had dinner in Marazion as well (@ Ben's Cornish Kitchen - fantastic food). Nice to be a bit out of the main town centre, but be prepared for a 15-20 minute walk into town.

Visited the Mount Haven, enroute for St Marys. It is in a perfect location and with the most wonderful views. We were made very welcome on arrival, and the service was perfect.

We went for half board, and would recommend this to everyone, the food was excellent and without driving there is not much else close by.

The advice we got on where to visit was also spot on. Do not goes to St Michael's Mount before about 1000 (it opens at 1030, and there is not much to do before it does), but the beauty is that the hotel is about 10 minutes walk from St Michael's Mount.

The food is perfect, not overly fussy but well prepared, well presented and perhaps most importantly well cooked.

The rooms are on the small side, but the views are SUPERB and more than make up for anything.

Will look forward to staying again.

Room Tip: 1st Floor for the view

Looking for somewhere to spend the night before we got the helicopter for Tresco we were struck by what a poor choice of places there was to stay in or near Penzance. What a joy to find the Mount Haven .... stylish, charming and attractive staff and a great welcome including lovely complimentary cup of tea on the terrace. The rooms are somewhat bijou - if you are used to a king size bed then be prepared for a cosy time - but nicely laid out and excellent value. Above all we cannot recommend dinner enough .... a well spaced dining room, exceptional food and nice laid back but attentive service. In the morning the service was a little frantic but the Omelette Arnold Bennet was worth the wait. Would be tempted to come back here for a long weekend. Melanie on reception a joy and full of useful info and good banter.

Room Tip: Be sure to be on the first floor

We stayed on the one night dinner bed and breakfast package. The room was lovely, great view of the mount you can hear the sea from the room, very relaxing. The dinner and breakfast was excellent quality both within the price of the package and the taste of the meals. Would recommend to anyone
