Yet again this cottage never fails to impress me and my family. Another lovely holiday in Marazion, although the weather was not up to its usual standard we still managed to get around and visit different towns, villages etc from previous years.
I cannot stress how conveniently situated this cottage is to the very many wonderful beaches, towns, villages in this lovely part of Cornwall. A must is the park and ride train facility from LeLant to St. Ives. Another idea is to visit the cathedral City of Truro. This is a must for all the well known High Street Shops as well as visiting the cathedral itself. this was the first time for us to visit Truro and was amazed at the diversity of the town.
When the weather was inclement the kind owner of the cottage (Dr. Job) gave us access to the games room situated in the annex.
Will we be back? this is the 4th visit for us staying at Gwern Cottage and each year there is something different about it. It is fully modernized, very clean with all the facilities you would require for self catering. I cannot fault it, and yes WE WILL BE BACK
The location and size of house were good for the family requirements and on the whole we did have an enjoyable stay. However we were a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the main house which had thick fluff and dust as well as cob webs particularly in the children's bedroom which aggravated their asthma and allergies. Unfortunately the lawn hadn't been cut for a while evident from the dog mess hidden in the grass. This may have been an oversight re: maintenance and we were just unfortunate of course.
Another fantastic holiday in this beautiful cottage. Ideal for families and dog friendly. We stayed the first week of June, the weather was excellent, wall to wall sunshine. The cottage is extremely well maintained, clean, had all the requirements you would have at home, set in a large garden and only 5 to 6 minutes walk to the beach and lovely town of Marazion. I can highly recommend this cottage, this is the 3rd year for us to stay there.
3 large supermarkets within 2 mile distance, Penzance only 3 miles. We visited Newquay, St. Ives and Padstow during our stay, the longest journey by car was Padstow and took only 50 minutes. The easiest journey was to St Ives. About 4 miles from the cottage is the village of St Erth where you can catch a train to St Ives. For 3 adults this only cost £8 for return family saver ticket. Well worth the cost.
Whilst in Marazion you must visit St Michael's Mount, you can walk to this historic castle via the causeway on the beach. When the tide comes in, and you are still on the mount, you can get a short boat trip back to Marazion for a nominal fee (£1. per person). This mount is well worth the visit and it is run by the National Trust.
I can, and have, highly recommended Gwern cottage to my friends and family and hopefully we will be back next year for our 4th visit and stay.
