It's hard to express just how special this part of Baja is. The beach cottages are the perfect place from which to launch adventures or take your siesta. BTW, the photos do not really communicate just how close this place is to the beach!! I'll get right to your big questions.
IS IT SAFE? In a word, YES! The locals in town are very friendly and helpful. There is not a lot of traffic in and out of Cabo Pulmo. There are a number of nice beach homes clustered behind an automatic locked gate. Your hosts are in residence very close by (while respecting your privacy) and know all the locals. We never had a second thought about our personal safety as it relates to other humans.
IS IT CLEAN? Again, the answer is a resounding YES! The place is brand new, appliances are new, and the place is meticulously clean. In addition, the unit was mindfully built (by your hosts) and furnished with everthing you need to cook, BBQ, live and sleep VERY comfortably. I don't believe it is possible to see the incredibly diverse wildlife of this sea and desert from a more ship-shape lodging.
ARE THERE THINGS TO DO?
We enjoyed our siestas. We also enjoyed morning and evning kayak paddles on the beatiful turquoise beaches. We did a long paddle to town, paddled with snorkeling gear, paddled with fishing pole. Long walks on the beaches were also amazing. It was not hatchling season for sea turtles so we'll have to return to see that!
We arrived (without realizing it) on the eve of the 22nd anniversary of the founding of the Cabo Pulmo marine reserve. We joined the town in a celebration that culminated in the crowning of a new Cabo Pulmo queen.
Of course you probably have done your homework to learn all that's available in Cabo Pulmo a couple of short miles away. Scuba, desert hiking, horseback riding, ATV's, mountain biking...and excellent meals! Our preference was for solo adventures on the beaches, water & desert. Its hard to beat the cadence of the paddle and the rise and fall of the gentle swell. Book this place, if you can!!
