It started off badly - we had pre-booked and when we turned up with our 2 young children at 3pm, there was a sign on the door saying the reception would be manned again at 6.30pm. This after we had received an email which stated reception was manned 24 hours a day. And 3pm is not really an unusual time to check in. We called the number on the door and were initially told there would be someone to open up in one and a half hours! After some remonstration someone turned up twenty minutes later to check us in this dive. THis hotel really is a throwback to Cold War Eastern Europe.

BUT I must say that the unfortunate couple whose job is to run this place are very pleasant indeed.

But the premises are a disaster. Our room overlooked the desolate weed-riiden car park. Our large smelly room had a badly stained carpet and bathtub which we did not use as we were not sure our innoculations were up to date. The bed sheets seemed clean. Breakfast was very basic.
There was no restaurant at the hotel although there had been one at one time I think. There are a couple of vile pizza places down the road.

We will never come back to this place but wish the couple who run it well. They would be well suited to running a quaint little country B&B. Not this hovel. The only improvements to this place would include a bulldozer and wrecking ball.

Handy for the ferry to Germany.

We stayed 2 nights here, not through choice but provided by organisers of an event were attending in Roedby. Looked quite large from the outside, very dated. Youth hostel / school children / hitch hikers accommodation would best describe this hotel. Reasonable size lobby / reception area.

If you can rough it out, you probably would not have minded. Room was quite small, basic with a narrow bed and one flat pillow. Not a comfortable sleep but warm and the bedding was clean. Only a shower with exposed pipes and the whole bathroom would get wet when you take a shower. No tea/coffee making facilities or iron. You can ask for a hair dryer at reception.

It does try in places, e.g it had a dance floor in the function/ dining room. The breakfast dining area was airy and bright. Tables were adorned with a lit candle (?) in the morning. A bit short staff at breakfast. No hot breakfast but cold buffet was ok with a selection of meats, cheese and fruit tea. WIFI was free, you need to get a ticket from reception every day which gives you a username / password.

There is a fish restaurant within walking distance near the port. On the plus side, staff were very helpful and pleasant but serious investment is needed to give this hotel an uplift.

I had to spend the night at this hotel due to a late arrival from Germany on a business trip in may. My choice was to either drive all night or to sleep over at Danhotel - I chose the latter.
In retrospect I somewhat regret that I did not spend the night on the road.

Danhotel is staffed by a very nice and helpful couple, therefore it feels a little bit bad to give this hotel such a lousy rating. Nevertheless this is one of the most worn out hotels I have stayed in.
It can´t possibly have been modified the last twenty years! Actually entering Danhotel is a bit like entering 1985 again.

The corridors are smelly and the elevator makes so much noise that you are bound to wake up when it starts - if you ever manage to find your sleep.

The room is so badly decorated that it gives me nightmares and flash backs of the worst styles of the eighties. The sofa smelled bad and it - could it be true? - actually reminded me of the smell of urine!

In the bathroom the tub had dirt staines all over it and the roof paint was holding on for dear life. There was a lot of spider webs too.

The price for all of this was about 120 euros. Outrageous! I have stayed in suites in asia for the same price.

Breakfast was good though, I can´t take that away from them.

If you absolutely have to sleep in a bed in this area, then stay at this hotel. It is the only hotel in this village. You should offer no more than half the price of what they are asking though.

Personally I found more comfort in my car, and if I ever pass through Rodby again I will spend the night on the road.

We needed a hotel close to the Ferry to Puttgarden after holidaying in Sweden. WE now had a little baby, so couldn't drive the whole way in one day anymore.

There is only one hotel in Rodby, and from the outside, we didn't hope for much as it loked so dated. At first their machine wouldn't take either of our debit cards, so we had to go the bank to get money out -don'y know why that happened.

The staff were lovely, and were very helpful with our little boy. The room was LOVELY, really spacious, with a great big bed and sofas. Only german TV but we didn't watch it anyway.

Better than anything was the food in the restaurant, it was out of this world! Unbelievable- really lovelt seafood and some great steak. They also had veggie food. They had a high chair for our little son too. The breakfast was a great banquet of fresh fruit, cheeses, wonderful bread, just wonderful.

This hotel is well worth either stopping before getting on the ferry and catching the ferry the next morning, or going the other way, travelling on the ferry and booking into the hotel, rather than on Puttgarden - as the hotels around their aren't great.
