The cottage is located in Loughanure, a small village close to Glenveagh National Park, and the wonderful Carrickfinn beach.
The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. I couldn't believe how well equipped the kitchen was!
We were given the warmest welcome by Brid, who explained everything and was very helpful with tips and advice for our short stay.

My parents booked Teac Chondai for a weeks break and I decided to tag along for a few days. The cottage is extremely pretty looking from the outside, a thatched roof, stable doors on the front and a massive garden. The interior of the cottage was a nice mix of traditional and modern. The downstairs of the cottage was very much in keeping with the original style with an open fire in the living room and an art bed dining room. The two downstairs bedrooms were clean and tidy and very spacious. The kitchen had all required appliances including a dishwasher. There was also a downstairs shower room catering for the bedrooms on the ground floor.

Upstairs was a new addition in the past 20 years and was more modern but very relaxing. The main living area had a tv and sofas and a coffee table beside the window looking out over Loch an Iuir and the beautiful mountain range. At night it was lovely sitting watching the sun set and the lights coming on in the distance. Again there were a further two bedrooms and a shower room upstairs.

There is a meter for the oil heating which takes coins but when we arrived there was a few hours already on the meter should we have needed it. There was definitely no more than €10 spent over the week for heating and hot water. There is also WiFi which was more than adequate for 3 of us connecting our phones/tablets.

One of the main selling points of the cottage was the ability to bring my parents dog. There were two enclosed gardens which were perfect to allow her to run about with not only fencing but also a soft mesh to ensure she couldn’t escape. I honestly think Lola enjoyed the stay more than we did and that’s saying something!

Within a few minutes walk from the cottage is the local garage which had a chippy inside and the local pub and restaurant which I would thoroughly recommend. The food was outstanding and boasted local fresh seafood on the menu. Carrickfinn beach is within a 10 minute drive towards Donegal airport and is a beautiful blue flag beach. The village is also close to Dungloe which has a SuperValu and Aldi should you want to cook. There are also quite a few restaurants, tea rooms and cafes.

I can definitely say that I would go back to the cottage in a heartbeat and I’m only sorry I couldn’t stay the full week. My parents thoroughly enjoyed their time and haves vowed to rebook for next year.

Great cottage with beautiful views, very clean and cosy, we enjoyed the turf fire and heating cost just €2 to heat up, great food in local bar and the beach beside airport was fantastic, the cottage had everything we needed for our stay and good Wi-Fi, definitely recommend this place and we will be back

Good points first, the lady who met us was very nice and friendly, the location was fine..close to a small shop and pub.

Bad points...the charge for oil was a total rip off, very disappointing and needs sorting urgently. The whole house needs a spring clean, the garden was grubby with Magner cider cans thrown about, the outside bins overflowing and enough empty wine bottles to fill a recycle centre. The down stairs toilet floor and shower had more 'adult' hairs in it than I care to remember.

With this one it really is a case of renter beware.
