The cottage is pretty, cosy and comfortable and the housekeeper is helpful and friendly, however I feel as though it should be made clearer when booking that you are expected to pay for your own heating (a big minus for us as we stayed in December). I'm sure this would also be a negative for anyone who may be arriving late at night with no Euro coins for the meter. Also, in my opinion, the first thing you see as you enter the property is a list of rules- not very welcoming. Also thought that being asked to strip the beds and hoover the floors before vacating the property was a bit cheeky- as you are cleaning the property and paying for heating what exactly is the booking price covering?
On a positive note- the small town of Dungloe was nice to see and we ate in a lovely restaurant with delicious food (Bayview). I found the local people of Donegal to be warm and friendly and overall lovely people.
We booked a 3 night stay the cottage and loved every minute of it. Great location to the beaches, mountains and a hour from Donegal itself. Dungloe is 10mins away if you need to stock up the fridge in either Aldi or Lidl. We had dinner in the local pub which is 100 meters away from the cottage and timed it right for the Thursday steak night!!!!
The cottage had everything we needed and a lovely warm welcome from Bridget. The only downfall is the front garden not being fenced off adequetly to keep the dogs in and off the main road. We wanted to be able to relax and enjoy the large front garden but always having to keep an eye on the dogs. Its advertised as pet friendly but the garden isnt and leads to the main road. I would advise even securing a part of the back of the house to allow the dogs to be secure somewhere.
We will be back again as we loved it!!!
The cottage had everything we could have wished for during our 3 night stay. The location is perfect for exploring everything Donegal has to offer from the wild landscapes, national park and amazing beaches.
The cottage has a lovely sized garden, perfect for children. The inside of the cottage was in excellent condition and even though it was February we were warm and cozy with the fire lit and the central heating on.
We received a warm welcome and i would not hesitate in recommending this cottage.

We stayed for 4 nights in January. We were greeted by Brid who had the fire going and went through the essentials with us. We lit the fire every night and it kept the living room cosy and the oil fire heating kept the bedroooms and sky lounge toasty. The radiators heated up really quickly. The kitchen had everything you would need we cooked every night with no problems. The cottage is in a great location for exploring donegal with dungloe only 5 kms up the road with supermarket, cafes, chemist etc. Its in a peaceful spot with lovely views over the lake and surroundings mountains. You really do feel like your getting away from it all without feeling too isolated. We would love to go back in the future
