I visited this restaurant with my wife and 6 friends based on its good trip advisor reviews. The journey took about 40 minutes from our villa in the mountains and on our arrival I was disappointed. The restaurant initially appeared to be a small corner cafe but we were escorted upstairs to a large dining room which lacked character but was comfortable. We were the only customers that night.
It appeared the staff consisted of the elderly owner who was the chef and his wife who was the waitress.
There is no menu and the waitress spoke no English which was fun. We agreed on a starter of a variety of pasta dishes which were all good.
The second courses were disappointing. I chose a pork dish which consisted of 2 thin slices of pork in a lemon sauce. We all shared 2 small dishes of chips and a “ salad” which was a bowl of chopped lettuce. 3 of our party chose a vegetarian option that looked strange and included a lump of cheese.
For desert we all asked the waitress for tiramisu. She initially said that it was not available today but she negotiated with the chef who kindly said he would knock one up for us all and presented us with an amazing desert.
The service was efficient and nothing was too much trouble.
As we left the restaurant we shared a complimentary glass of grappa with the chef.
In summary, a pleasant evening. Not worth the 40 minute journey but the restaurant would be ok if we were staying more locally.

One of our favorite "gifts of the day" experience as the six of us walked in as the restaurant was closing for lunch. Luckily a local was there to interpret for us and the owner seemed happy to sit us in the empty downstairs portion of his lovely restaurant
and fixed us a meal with what he had left and was planning to feed himself and his staff.
You just can't beat homemade meatballs, spaghetti, and penne straight from the kitchen.
Marinara sauce was exceptional. This place is up a long windy road full of Tuscany
views and we were rewarded for our drive in the country. Parking is challenging. Our thanks again.....

We had a great meal at Locanda Il Cavallino Bianco. There’s no menu - but the chef, Alessandro, took the time to explain everything to us. Alessandro was a fantastic, warm and friendly host. The food was excellent - the best we’ve had all trip. Highly recommend!

Our last evening in the beautiful Tuscan mountains, we were lucky enough to have the Locanda Il Cavallino Bianco, all to ourselves. We were treated to a traditional, Tuscan Family-style, 3 course meal. Each dish was a delightful and mysterious surprise as our Italian is rudimentary at best, so none of us really knew what we were getting. The portions were enormous and delectable. The local wine was fantastic. But nothing could compare the extremely warm and inviting attention we received from our hostess and her husband, the chef. Side note, seaway to another review; the hostess was also the shop keeper at the small market t across the street; Domenici Viviana.
