We stayed 5 days at this beautiful, typical Greek home in Aptera. The house is fully renovated, big, airy, tastefully decorated and with everything needed for a comfortable stay cooking utensils, basic pantry items, aircon, fan, washing machine, TV, wifi (they even had mosquito tablets!). Both the front and the backyard are equipped for al fresco eating: the frontyard is paved, sports a big parasol ans is framed with potted flowers; The backyard is less structured, with two lush olive trees providing shade and with views to the mountains.
Anna and Nasia are the perfect hosts, they were there both for our arrival and farewell, upon which they presented us with a lovely sample of local produce. When the internet broke, they took care of it the very same day.
A few meters downhill there are a couple tavernas and a minimarket. The Aptera ruins nearby was a great surprise as they are bigger and better than one would expect, being that they do not feature prominently in any guide I've seen. We had a rental car, so I cannot provide any info regarding public transport in the area.
I had a wonderful time here, fully recommended.
