“Comfortable and relaxing”
Reviewed 28 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The ground floor flat was everything we hoped for. We were only two people but there would be plenty of room for 4 - the flat is very spacious. Particularly lovely was the long patio with a view of the White Mountains and a choice of lounging in the shade or the sun - also a great place to eat meals.
Stelios (George's father) met us on arrival and made us very welcome. He had provided a very generous welcome pack of goodies including his own wine and olive oil and a good starter pack of provisions.
Aptera is a very mellow and quiet village with three or four good tavernas where you can eat well and cheaply (we ate at both Cretan Corner and Ta Aptera and can recommend both). There are good beaches a short drive away (having a car is pretty essential if you want to explore). We mainly visited a beach just to the west of Kalyves (turning left a little before the filling station on the road from Kalami signposted GK beach cafe/restaurant, which was actually a pleasant place for a drink or snack). Other, more picturesque, beaches were at Falassarna and Stavros but there is plenty of choice.
We had a really wonderful and relaxed holiday and really appreciated the care taken by George and his father to make us comfortable.

A wonderful retreat overlooking the White Mountains with early morning sounds of cockerals, bells of sheep and goats and dogs as the village awakens. The family are attentive but never intrusive. The village has traditional Tavernas and the environment is full of history.
You need a car to make the most of your stay but nothing is too far and you can always get away from any tourist hustle and bustle.

“Way beyond our expectations! Excellent choice!!”

Me and my partner Fedon visited Anna Malai during a business trip around the area of Megala Chorafia. We were amazed by the villa's traditional architecture combined with the breathtaking view of the cretan landscape. Beautifully crafted in white stone, it overlooks the snow-capped White Mountains and endless olive groves, and is elegantly and simply furnished (dark wooden shutters, beams and floorboards contrast perfectly with the white-washed walls).
Additionally, the local owners Stelios and his son George were very friendly and helpful.. it really felt like you were a guest in someone's home! They welcomed us with a basket full of their own local products and recommended us to visit all the interesting surroundings such as the 10minute walk ancient city of Aptera and the venetian Koules castle.. All places and experiences i will never forget.. I will definitely visit again for summer vacation!
Overall best value for money I had in years! I highly recommend it!!

Amazing accommodation!!!! I visited during a business trip and stayed 4 days but I will definitely visit again for holidays. The owners were very polite and extremely helpful with everything I asked! Very nice places to visit near by and the City of Chania at a close driving distance.
