After 2 weeks touring India the Maldives was so lovely to relax before coming back to the cold uk weather. All the luxury of a 5 star hotel but in Robinson Crusoe style. I asked reception what the dress code was and they said there wasn't one! A wrap and swimmers pretty much took you every where. Sitting on that white white sand sitting prosceco was my idea of heaven. The sea and sky so blue and such a delight being able to paddle in the sea for a far as you would like. Along with the beautiful fish. Service was a bit slow in the room and so we went into the dining room for our meals after our first experience. Drinks are expensive but that is the Maldives for you. The staff were very friendly. We stayed in a one bed room villa. We put a couple of sunbeds in the outside bathroom which made for extra private sun bathing. I will go back sometime but the flights are a bit long.

Room Tip: There are villas for families and a villa will take 2 adults and 2 children at a push. I would love to take my family they would love it. The windsurfing is fabulous and the kyacing

If you're looking to unwind, this is the perfect place. Top reasons why we loved our stay at Cocoa Island:

1. Exclusivity and privacy: This is a boutique resort with suites/villas that are comfortably spaced apart. Everybody we met were polite and considerate. Even though the resort was full during the time we were there, there were times we would talk around and wouldn't see anyone. We really appreciated the peace and tranquility.

2. Marine life: We just had to step out of our room right into the water to be surrounded by amazing marine life. We would spot schools of fish and baby sharks right outside our room.

3. Beautiful beach: What could be better than perching yourself on the beach and looking out into different shades of blue and green?

4. Comfortable and cosy rooms: We were happy to lounge in the room all day. The resort is all about rustic chic.

5. Delicious meals: Being foodies, we were initially apprehensive about having to dine in the same restaurant for all three meals. But were pleasantly surprised with the quality and variety. We looked forward to breakfast everyday. The breads were fresh and there were different freshly squeezed fruit juices every day. There were themed dinners on some nights and our favourite was the grilled seafood night with fresh lobster and fish. The menu also offered spa cuisine as a healthy alternative.

6. Well-trained staff: Service was always polite and friendly without being obtrusive. They were knowledgeable and able to answer our questions - with a smile. Felix the resort Manager makes an effort to meet and talk with everyone which gives the entire experience a personalised feel.

7. Good facilities: The spa, yoga and gym were all designed to help guests relax. Our favourite was the hydrotherapy pool with various water jets to relieve any stress or tension.

8. Excursions: We took the sunset cruise and snorkelling trip out which were well-organized. The staff were very knowledgeble and friendly.

9. Attention to detail: It is evident that a lot of thought has gone into planning and operating the resort. There was a library with a good collection of books and DVDs, tree swings were placed strategically around the island, and a book on local marine life in our room was a helpful reference after each dive to identify what we spotted.

10. Dolphins: Last but not least, we had a real treat on the speed boat ride as we headed to the airport for our departure. We spotted schools of dolphins jumping around our boat, as if they were there to bid us good-bye.

We wished we had planned to stay longer!

I have to say I am writing this nearly 4 years after visiting the heaven that is Cocoa Island... but what can I say, there isn't a week that goes by that we don't reminisce over what was the most amazing 2 weeks in paradise... everything about the place is truly phenomenal, the food, accommodation and the fact that you feel as though you are the only people on a desserted island... it really is that spectacular. I slept better than I ever have, or ever am likely to.. We just hope to be able to return and re-live it all one day!

Words that came out of my mind are `HEAVENLY`, `PARADISE`, `INCREDIBLE`………… What a fantastic destination for our honeymoon!!! We were there during Feb. 24-27, 2012. It was the time when the riot broke out at Male couple weeks before. Originally, we were worried about the safety of the country when we heard the news and consider cancelling the trip. Aren`t we glad we didn`t cancel. It worked out to our favour because there were less people at the resort. The island is small and only holds 33 guesthouses. That`s one aspect we like about this resort - privacy. There is no fighting on lawn chairs, crowded beach, swimming with tons of people…etc… It was paradise to us with white sand beach, great sunny weather, crystal clear lagoon water, lot of colourful fishes and corals, beautiful sunset and stars at night. We couldn`t ask for more or image any complaint about this place. I read some of the negative reviews by others and I can say that the issues have been corrected. The staffs are welcoming and always courteous, professional and friendly. I also like the fact the resort promo wellness for mind and body. So, they incorporate activities like yoga and hydrotherapy pool at their resort which we love.

Overall, this is the place to be if you are looking for a little taste of heaven that is peaceful, a place to relax your mind, body & soul, and appreciate the wonder of nature.

Hints: It was wonderful to have breakfast in the room overlooking the ocean. Egg Benedict is our favour. Must try their hydrotherapy pool. Of course snorkeling and diving are must do.

Room Tip: Dhoni Suite - this is good enough if you don't want to go up and down the stairs to you bed. I love the ocean view when you wake up in the morning.
