The pictures cannot do justice to the views from the villa, as it is situated in an incredibly scenic area. You are perhaps 50m above sea level. To the left is Capa Zafferano sweeping across to Porticello and in the far distance you can see all the way to Termini Imerese. You could spend all day simply watching the boats go by. (Bring binoculars!).The Mediterranean is a short walk from the villa. It is crystal clear, and you have the option to rent sun-beds and parasol on a private beach, where drinks minerals are sold at very reasonable prices. There are also great walks close by, and you are provided with local recommendations for trips and restaurants. A nice touch was Vincenzo’s welcome letter which provided all useful information.
The villa itself is substantial, secure, not overlooked and private. It is very well maintained, and has reliable wireless internet. It has a really large open plan living area and sliding glass doors open onto the huge outside living area. The garden with its many levels, plants and citrus trees is very well maintained. The bedrooms are comfortable, and quiet. The kitchen is well equipped, with a large fridge freezer. There are three separate exterior areas, and the outside kitchen is resplendent with its own pizza over, in addition to a BBQ & full cooking facilities. I would guess that overall there is seating for 25+ people, so nobody will be short of space.
Manola was on hand to meet us and Vincenzo available promptly by phone to assist. We have been to the area before, and the town of Bagheria is pure Sicily, full of narrow streets, restaurants, and lots of surprisingly good shops. You can also leave your car at the railway station, and get the train to Palermo which is quick and cheap.
The Bagh shopping centre is 10 minutes away, an easy drive, parking, and has a large supermarket open 7 days a week. Good to know if arriving late Saturday or Sunday.
The location is close to the E90 motorway which means access to the rest of the island is easy. E.g. Cefalu. I recommend using the Casteldaccia junction, as it is easy to get to from the villa, albeit further if going in the direction of Palermo. It avoids having to drive through, in, and around Bagheria.
I could go on and on. Simply put. Go there; enjoy the views, glorious weather, superb local restaurants and the unique Sicilian atmosphere in a 5 star property.
We have family in Porticello and we have stayed here twice on our trips there. Vincenzo and his sister have run a great place to stay! The house is very well equipped with two kitchens, one inside and the other outside. With an outdoor fireplace and pizza oven. The bedrooms are a nice size for any size family. Very authentic Italian villa! You will not be disappointed staying here!
This Villa is located in a very beautiful spot and is one of the best equipped I have stayed in. The gardens in which it sits adds charm. All bedrooms are full double bedrooms. There is both an indoor and outdoor kitchen. The bathrooms work and the terraces (all 3) are superb. The host and hostess of this property are perfect and although they live some of the time in the villa below they are not intrusive.
This is one place I will definitely return to.
