Description: Situated on the banks of the Grand River, Mill Street Bistro & Smokehouse offers spectacular views from our dining room, upper deck, and brick patio! We do off-site catering and on-site. Book our beautiful, landscaped park by the river for a reunion, wedding, community or corporate event. Classical music Friday nights, and live music and dancing on the patio Saturday nights in July and August. We have about a dozen Ontario craft beers on tap, and a great selection of Niagara wines. Our approach is farm to table, what we don't grow on the Bistro farm, we source from our neighbours! The Bistro is open everyday for lunch and every night for dinner in July and August, and for dinner Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights off-season.

Sat outside on patio overlooking the river, very pleasant view. Beer was very cold and tasty, we had two local beers. Food was ok, NB stew soup was amazing. Service very good, pleasant. A nice place to take a break from shopping in Elora

we tried this restaurant because of its patio with a view over the Grand River. The ambience is good but service is slow and the food is good pub fare. Prices are reasonable.

We were here Aug 5 for dinner. We walked in and saw the sign "wait to be seated". So we waited and waited and waited. The 3 ladies that were there behind the bar busying themselves made eye contact and then proceeded to ignore us. (that should have been our first indication that this wasn't going to go well and should have walked out then) I said (to no one in particular, really just anyone that wanted to listen), "so are we supposed to just seat ourselves?" One of the ladies looked at us and indicated that she thought we had been taken care of. Ummm no, we're still standing here.

So we get to the table. The waitress is pleasant and professional, gives us the menus, takes are drink order and then we don't see her. When she does come back she has our drinks and we order an appetizer, the Baked Brie which was very good. Again we don't see the waitress for about 30 min. When she does comes back we order the entrée, Husband orders the smoked brisket with fries and beans. The brisket is medocre at best and the beans are worse than what you get out of a can. (he says canned beans are better) The fries were ok. I order the Pad Tai which had a creamy curry sauce on it. Never saw that before, but it was ok, The noodles were a bit soggy, No wow factor for either dish,

To top off the non impressive food or service, it took us more than an hour and a half from appetizer to receiving the bill. Not once did anyone come by to refill the drinks or ask how everything was. Just a note: it was not busy at all,. I can overlook average food but it's the service that would keep me coming back to a place. We won't be back

We ate at this "bistro" and were very disappointed with the food. We ordered fish and chips which cost $17 and were served an overcooked fried fillet obviously from a frozen package. We did not expect a $17 fish dish to be something that you may get at a fast food place. Hardy "bistro" fare. One of our party could not eat it at all , another could only manage half and because I was starving I did eat it but certainly did not enjoy it. When we complained the server just told the cook and there was no apology. Just no charge for the one person who didnt touch it. Neither the owner nor the cook made any attempt to ameliorate the situation. Would definitely avoid this restaurant.

we did not feel there was anything wrong with the fish, as it is baked and not fried
and you neglected to mention that the waitress asked if she could bring you something else, which you declined.

This is a good place if you are looking for a table with a view to water. Staff is nice and attentive. The Seafood Cobb salad (including house-smoked salmon) and the soup we had were decent, but nothing special. The remaining selection of pub food (including other house-smoked meats) looks pretty standard for this type of establishment. We find that restaurant prices in Elora are a little high (more reflective of downtown Toronto than small town Ontario), reflecting Elora’s tourist economy.
