“A GOOD STOP OVER”
Reviewed 12 September 2012

I stayed in this hotel last year. Rooms are good complete with wooden floor, roof and good bathroom, bed, linen, pillows. The rates are reasonable and it is away from the main Almora town and you need a round about way to approach which only the hotel staff can explain to you. Alternatively you can drive through a one way lane in the main market. Tough but possible. There are a lot of rooms but you should take a room which faces the valley and the jungle. Morning walks are good and breezy. Mind you they have a small restaurant with buffet and I have seen people waiting for their turn at the table. This is a big negative. But they have a terrace where you can photograph and view is very scenic.

Room Tip: take a room on the higher floor facing the valey and the jungle. The one opposite car park are the o...

If you are looking for quiet and peaceful stay , this is the kind of place for you then. The moment you cross khairna, you leave behind the madening rush, which is going towards ranikhet, nainital or bhimtaal or like of it. The road is single carriageway but newly laid, traffic is quite thin after khairna, so, you can enjoy the mesmerizing view till the resort. The resort itself is quite a big property. The family suites were quite good and spacious and offered a magnificient view. Food quality is quite good. Though service may lack if you place a order during peak time and that too for room service as distance from rooms to dining hall/ kitchen is quite much. They also arranged rappling and rock climbing which was great experience for the family. Once can visit Jageshwar from there, which is Lord Shiva Temple, a beautifull view will welcome yiou when you reach near the temple site.
The property is being managed by Mr. Joshi, who is an excellent person, extremely polite and helpful. He made every effort to make our stay comfortable and pleasant.
You can visit the ZOO , if you are interested in trekking, bcoz you wont find any wildlife there. Though kids may love it, as they find variety of swings quite amusing.

It was difficult to give a rating as there is no option for GOOD. As location place is excellent, what a drive ( around 10 kms just beofre the resort, after almora) after chaotic drive from delhi to almora. Room were spacious and had the basic amenities, nothing luxurious but good rooms. Although its high time they must change the linen and towels. Food is average and if you dont want to enjoy some of the best food avaliable at walking distance then you may eat here. Although Mr. Joshi was kind enough to offer us the Kumaoni Mutton and raita included Kumaoni food which was excellent. We had exeprienced Mr. Joshi's hospitality earlier as well at Kasuani where he earleir worked. I must admire the guy becsuse he could remember us after so may years, he is in the right business. His efforts and YES attitude with smiles is the best thing any vacationer would look for. Room service was good but a bit slow as there were few people only to serve. But, they were on their toes to please the guest and this was amazing.

The overall GOOD rating is because of AVERAGE food, linen, towels and overall maintenance of the resort. It is beautiful but can be made better for sure...

and Excellent drive, walks, attitude of the people and being in nature...

As for the places around DOLMA restaurant is the nearest one the food is again average excpet pakoras which we really enjoyed as evening snacks as it was raining so all together the best combination that anyone could think of...from DOLMA you can buy the juices, water, chips etc fo rmunching and comes out to be better then ordering at the reosrt and waiting for things to come...yes ofcourse its cheap as well....

Then is Mohan's Restaurant - Excellent food, although they also take time if you are in a big group and would like to enjoy a lot of things...

And the best is the German Bakery - Guys if you are in this area then dont even think not to have food here...an offbeat place ( Reminded us of our favourite Evergreen at Kasol). Food was really really good, though i would not recommed the food here during the dinner time....Kids also enjoyed as they had a beautiful cocncept of making hand sketches and then pasting them on the wall...

If you are at this place just relax take walks and dont do anything else....Dont bother to go to ZOO...

Room Tip: Dont keep the eatables out as there are lot of monkeys...they dont cause any problem but you are the...

I would go just opposite to all the reviews posted against the Kasaar resort mentioning its service food and site. To my surprise all the deficiencies were looked into very well when i visited in june first week. Staff courtesy, food, lodging and the temperature is worth spending time in absolute peace. The rooms has been maintained well and most of the basic facilities are available.
I definitely plan for another trip to this place

Room Tip: If you are travelling with old ppl do take room at lower level. For youngsters prefer the one where...
