“Off the Grid/Lovely property in Sheetlakhet”
Reviewed 8 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

this property is located in Shitlakhet, it has 2 rooms only (imp to know if you are using a third party vendor to book the same as I booked 3 rooms here as per MMT but came to know later that this has 2 rooms only).

rooms are big, clean and spacious with basic ameneties (1 soap and a towel), attached kitchen is there but i was not able to find the gas cylinder.

food is not served in the rooms, one has to go to owner's other hotel which is very near. food served there is like home cooked meal. you have to order at least 30 mins in advance and select items are available.

View from the extended balcony is amazing and USP of this place, there isn't much to do here apart from roaming around and trekking.

Ideal for someone who wants to just sit and read a book and enjoy nature.

Sheetlakhet is itself far from any tourist place so its is very sparsely populated.

if you a are going here avoid taking the "mansar shitlakhet road" although this is shorter. the road is half constructed and is full of rubble and stones and then in last few kms there is no road at all. it is just mud in which vehicles can get stuck very easily. Unless you have an SUV and love driving on difficult terrain avoid it especially in rainy season. google maps will tell you to choose this road.

take the sheetlakhet road instead.

“Affordable lodging with good terrace and Himalaya snow clad mountain view”
Reviewed 27 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

If you are looking for a cheap tariff lodging in Shitlakhet with good view of Himalaya snow clad mountain then you go for it. We stayed for one night and had good experience interacting with the hotel staff and the owner Mr. Chandan. He along with the hotel caretaker Gopal guided us to one cliff and Deodar trees forest.

This guest house does not have its kitchen and garden but good food can be enjoyed at their another family hotel just 4 house away. Tea and snacks is served in the room.

We returned with good memories.

“2 room property with excellent view.(take the longer route)”
Reviewed 23 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Guest house comprises of 2 rooms only, and is located in Shitlakhet.

The room share a huge balcony with amazing uninterrupted view. the rooms are big and have kitchen attached, although gas cylinder was not present.

There's not much to do in and around the guest house, it is located on the main road. Tourist attractions are atleast 2 hrs drive away, so it is ideal for people who want to stay put and enjoy the view.

Rooms are clean, big and provide amenities as per a budget property. You might find few bugs in the room in rainy season and during nights as they get attracted by lights.

For meals one has to go to a nearby Sheetalam hotel which is owned by same owner and it serves decent meals. No meals are served in the guest house. One attendant from this hotel usually takes care of all things at the guest house.

If you plan to go these, do not drive on mansar-shitlakhet road (16kms), take longer route instead(40 kms) as the short route is in pathetic condition. If you like driving on tough and difficult terrain and have a vehicle which can cope up with such extreme terrain, then only take the shortest route. the road is paved for only first few kms and then its rocky and broken at places, for last 4-5 kms there is no road, just mud and deep puddles in which a smaller vehicle can easily get stuck.

I drove on the shortest route in santro and that too during rains, my heart was in my mouth throughout the journey. Although we managed to make it but I have realized that one cannot rely on google maps in such regions..

“peaceful corner in the lap of nature”
Reviewed 14 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

very nice place to stay at Shitlakhet. facilities are awesome, comparable to a 4 star. they have only two rooms. both are identical.

but the attraction is the terrace they have. it is very long and wide. mountain range of 'nanda devi' can be seen at the morning. and the view is really stunning. the terrace is ideal for bon-fire at a cosy night.

the staffs are attentive. nice and tasty food is also available all the time.

thanks for a nice stay himadri.

“Great Place to Stay and Location is Awesome”
Reviewed 4 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Shitlakhet, the place itself left us awestruck. Coming to the hotel, it was in one word tremendous.
5/5 for location, decor, cleanliness. If you are planning a visit somewhere near Almora don't miss this place.
