Very customer focused, great food, cottages air conditioned a must do are the game drives I saw Tigers each of the 3 days of my stay.

Room Tip: All rooms aircondioned, if taking expensive camera gear into the park, ensure you take something to...

Getting to the Lodge is quite a long journey from Delhi. However I had an excellent driver who was very knowledgeable. The service provided by all staff at the Lodge was excellent. Mosti, my room attendent was very helpful. Dipu, my naturalist and dinner companion was very knowledgeable and passionate about all things Indian. Sadat who sat down with me on the day I arrived and asked what my likes and dislikes were with regard to food was excellent.
The food was an experience on its own. We had a jungle setting BBQ one night. A roof top dinner another and then an outdoor dining experience beside the pool. It is very difficult not to put on weight at this lodge.
The room was excellent, very spacious and was cleaned every time I went for a safari or for lunch or dinner. Given that the outside tempreture was 38 degrees celcius, the air conditioning was excellent and very quiet. The lodge is located about 5 minutes from the park entrance and this reduces the time spent getting to and from the park. I was very lucky and managed to see all kinds of wildlife on my visit incluuding a female tiger and three cubs, a large male asleep in the jungle and a sloth bear as well very many colourful birds.
I liked the people best and the only negative was the lack of a working internet connection. I think it would be best to depend on your smart phone for internet connection.

This beautiful beautiful lodge is worth visiting. And if you can get advance booking to see tigers via elephant, you must do so. If you wait until you get there, there's little chance to arrange this. The accomodations are little mud houses, all your own, with lovely courtyards and fabulous beds and baths.
The food is exquisite. Comparable to the best restaurants in the city. It was a treat to eat here.

Room Tip: All of the rooms seemed well located

Bandhavgarh National Park is undoubtedly a god destination for viewing tigers ,although we only saw one during our 5 days there, we heard several growling in the undergrowth. We stayed at Mahua Kothi billed by Cox & Kings as "a luxury boutique" safari camp. In fact the cottages are rather dull externally and in unimpressive surroundings with no views, although the main building is attractively located . What spoilt our stay was the fact that the cottage interior was over-run with rats at night making sleep difficult and represents an obvious health risk. We moved cottage after the first night to another cottage but it made no difference, we just could not sleep for fear of them jumping on the bed (no mosquito nets to protect us even!). If you are heavy sleepers perhaps you would not even notice them but the rats attacked anythying we left out ie cosmetics in tubes, eye brow pencil and soap.

I think the camp should should close down for a serious rat eradication programme. I appreciate they cannot use poison as an eco friendly camp but it is essential to address the issue. We have done safaris in Africa, Nepal and elsewhere in India and never had such a problem before. Such a shame and disappointment when the cost of staying there is huge and it is marketed as somewhere special!!

Getting to Bandhavgarh is a bother. You have to first get to Delhi , then take a turbo prop to Jabalpur and then a 3 hour drive to the resort. However, for Tiger enthusiasts Bandhavgarh probably has the best chance of a sighting in India. In Bandhavgarh, Mahua Kothi is probably the best place to stay. Managed by the Taj group well known for their service quality. However the personal attention to detail by the local team surpassed all our expectations. The pricing is steep , compared to other lodges in the area, but the service, the quality of the naturalists makes the additonal cost worthwhile. We were a group of 11 including children and senior citizens, and we were there for three nights and everyone had a wonderful time, topped up by the wonderful Tiger sighting memories which will be with us forever.

Room Tip: all the rooms are identical cottages
