Myself and my partner stayed here a few weeks back during a big trip around India. We were on a pretty tight budget but this place seemed to come up trumps on TripAdvisor, so went for it.
Kay and Satiyendra who run it are an extremely welcoming pair, who made us feel very at home within the camp.
The rooms are basic, but big and comfortable, and are set within a beautiful garden they have built up within the grounds of the property. Being within the park, having spent a fair amount of time in built up areas around India, the accommodation complimented a feeling of being truly 'stuck in' with the surrounding nature.
One of the biggest plus points here was the fact that they sorted everything for us - the pickup and drop off from Umaria, the tickets for the park - and as mentioned in other reviews, accompanied us into the park on our safari's. Their wealth of knowledge is great to observe, and makes for tracking tigers a very exciting experience.
We were unlucky in not spotting a tiger- but were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a leopard instead (apparently a rarer sighting!). This is apparently due to the time of year, as no other tigers were spotted in the time we were there. The experience was well worth it all the same.
A tranquil and relaxing place to stay, that makes 'doing' the national park very easy. Highly recommended.

This place is a gem, very close to the Tala gate of Bandhavgarh national park, just about 5 minutes away. The place is run by Kay and Satyandra Tiwari, both of them have immense knowledge about the nearby forrests and wild-life around them.
One should be clear though, it is not a five star property, it is not for people who want to stay indoors. The rooms are basic, the places is beautifully landscaped, although little rustic.
The property itself has many butterflies and birds that visit the garden.
If you are interested in jungle safaris and want to learn about jungles and wildlife, this is the place for you.
For us Satyendra personally accompanies us on most of the safaris and that was a great experience. The alarm calls of animals, trying to look for tigers, how to follow them, all of that makes for a great experience.
Logistically, they took care of everything including pick up and drop off from Umaria railway station to their property. The meals were great, catered to our (and our 9 year old daughter's taste). One can pretty much set the menu for himself if you so desire.
They gave us personal attention for all our needs and the experience was once in a lifetime.

Room Tip: Satyendra and Kay have a wealth of knowledge about the wild life in and around Bandhavgarh. Wild lif...

Skay’s Camp is a beautifully landscaped property within a five-minute drive or fifteen-minute walk to the preferred Tala Gate entrance to Bandhavgarh National Park. Birds frequent the property since it is a uniquely green oasis in a residential village. Although basic, the room we stayed in was very large and very clean, with a large bathroom. (Hot water was plentiful, although tinged with high iron content.) There was a porch outside our room overlooking the gardens.

The internet connection in our room (under the owner’s quarters) was excellent: strong and reliable. Food was plentiful and tasty, shared with the owners and other guests. At night, good vegetarian meals are enjoyed around a cheery bonfire.

We spent five nights at the property as guests of Satyendra and Kay. They are very knowledgeable naturalists who understand the park’s history, animals, and challenges. Satyendra has been at the park for more than twenty-five years. It is the insight, knowledge and expertise from both Satyendra and Kay which make staying here such a very good experience.

Bandhavgarh National Park is very scenic and rich in wildlife. Although there are many jeeps entering the park every day, jeeps are pre-assigned specified routes to manage overcrowding. We were lucky to be joined on our jeep trips by Satyendra and/or Kay and even luckier to have had two excellent tiger sightings.

kudos to Satyendra and Kay for the honesty and zeal with which they run their camp- a rarity these days. This place will do justice to those who respect wildlife;those who have other ideas should look elsewhere. A place where the nature enthusiasts (whether amateur or professional) will truly value the invaluable experience of the hosts. A must visit for birdwatchers, wildlife enthsuasts and anyone who respects birds and animals or wants to understand nature. No touristy thrills like music, DJ, spa etc- please go elsewhere. Throughly enjoyed my stay.

Satyendra and Kay and the most knoweldable and gracious hosts. This small, simple setting was the perfect place to recover from jet lag and tour the Tala zone. Kay shared her stories of tigers and her magnificent wildlife art with us. Satyendra went on the safri's with us and knew everything. The guides that the park requires get a break when Satyendra arrives! We couldn't have been more happy with our stay. The staff even hand cut bamboo sticks for us to bring home to our son. The food was flavorful but not too spicy which is just what I needed. My husband was provided extra hot peppers on the side to spice up his dishes. If you want to feel cared for and safe yet experience India more close at hand, this is the place for you. One of my favorite extras was the beautiful cats that lives on the property, so fun!
