Day 5 was the beginning of the trip in my eyes. Driving from Toronto through Ontario and across the prairies was fun, but it`s the mountains is where I wanted to be and where I slowed down to take everything in. Enjoying a lot of stops and attractions along the way we wanted to stop for the night close to the Tsawwassen Ferries for Schwartz Bay. So we stayed here.

Arriving just before they closed at night. It was in the morning we were going to head over to the island. This is an older nostalgic motel. It`s family owned, operated and was clean. The management was also very nice. The rate for the room was fair and we enjoyed our stay. Our room had two queen-sized beds and a kitchenette. Our room was more like a suite in comparison to the place we stayed at for day 3 and 4. Although we didn`t utilize the kitchen, it would have been great if we had needed to.

The only thing I could say that was bad, was that my bed was on casters and every time I got into the bed, the bed rolled across the laminate floor separating the bed from the headboard. I spent more time lifting the pillows off the floor.

Other than that, the room was satisfactory and I would stay there again for the convenience of where the ferries were. Perhaps the casters could be removed

The room was old and run down, which we were able to get past as we were only crashing for the night in the middle of a road trip. We were a little caught off guard as there were no deadbolts or chains on the door, only an auto lock door knob. At one in the morning our neighbours checked into their room, at this point we realized the walls were paper thin as we could hear our neighbours entire phone conversation, where he was swearing, yelling, and threatening the person on the other end of the phone. A few minutes later we heard shaking and banging on the locked door between us (it had obviously been a door for an adjoining room previously, but it was sealed shut). Someone was trying to break into our room from next door. We were absolutely terrified and we called the front desk immediately, the fellow who had checked us in answered and told us not to worry because it was him who had been banging on the door thinking he could access the breaker panel... Once the next door neighbour settled in friends of his started arriving, as it was two in the morning we assumed they wouldn't stay long. There party went on all night and we couldn't sleep at all. Finally, at 5:30 am we called the front desk, who claimed there was no noise coming from next door. We called a half hour later to tell them it was still happening and had even gotten worse. They refused to help us with the noisy neighbours. After zero sleep, nearly being broken into, and incredibly poor customer service, I wouldn't recommend anyone stay at this horrible place.

Just think of this motel like "camping inside". Bring your own chair as there is only one in the room. All the furniture in the room, of which there is very little, is only furniture in the academic sense. So don't count on hanging up your clothes or having a place to put your suitcase, other than the floor. Bring your own reading lights. The lamps in the room work, but they have these weird dark shades that prevent much light escaping. Bring your own cups, toiletries, hair dryer, and extra towels. There is this really strange air conditioning unit which takes up a large part of the room, but at least it keeps the room air fresh. The sink drips. The electrical plugs are worn out. If you very carefully negotiate your phone charger at a slight angle using a combination of towels and boxes, you may be able to recharge your phone overnight. There is a lack of available plugs in the room, so bring a power strip. There is no plug in the bathroom. Bring your own pillows. The ones in the room are pancakes. The coffee in the room is bleh. Fortunately there is a coffee place just a couple of blocks away. That being said, the bed is clean and comfortable. The room is quiet and the motel is located in a nice neighborhood. There is a golf course across the street with lots of grass for Fido. The shower is hot and the water pressure is good. The towels are clean and fluffy. The staff is nice. And of course it is close to the ferry. If you're looking for an inexpensive motel close to the ferry, this is the place. It's not great, but it works for me.

Would never stay in the motel again. Went to have a shower and the handle fell off in my hand. Oven didn't work on the stove. Hardly any dishes. Concerned about cleanliness - rolling dust bunnies in the bathroom. Convenient to Ferry for sure and also a walk to beach but not worth the money paid. It could be a really great place if someone cared.

Room Tip: Saw two rooms one on ground floor and other on second floor - wouldn't recommend either.

If you are looking for a one night stay close to the ferry terminal then this is the property. Check in late and leave early. Do not expect the owners to be friendly or accommadating. They speak very little english and are on the phone all the time. The room we stayed in was in a state of disrepair and dirty. The garbage is literally thrown over the back gate into a yard. Our room was advertised as a kitchenette. There was a frying pan and a pot but no stove to be seen. There were a few mismatched dishes but no dish towels. For such a nice location the owners of this property should try to do better. It looks like the owners are using this as an investment to get as much money out of it with no investment from them. Will not be using the Beach Grove again.
