We chose San Lorenzo a Linari because it of location as central part of Tuscany. Before arrival, I emailed the resort and received prompt replies with suggestions. The gentleman, Bruno, always informed me of the things I should know before arriving.

We arrived by car from Rome by following the GPS coordinates. It was a good thing that Bruno recommended a car because the residence is a 15 minute drive from Sienna and there is no public transportation. Second, the closest market to buy food(no restaurant at residence) is a 10 minute drive. Without a car, you will most likely starve all day and walk places. So arrive by car.

Our room was the superior room on the corner of the residence. We found the room cozy, clean, and in good shape. We had breakfast delivered to our room every morning(stayed 5 nights) and although it was the same every morning, we enjoyed having espresso and cappuccino brought to us. If you are expecting a 5 star resort with a restaurant, this is probably not gonna work. for you.

The pool was clean, cared for, and in great location. The grounds are immaculate and well taken care of. It shows that the owner, the staff, and the people that visit take care of it. This is a great destination for families with kids.

One item that I would like to suggest for Bruno and the staff is to have a posted quiet hours after 9 pm. Because some of the rooms face the pool area, people come out at 10 and everything can be heard as it echoes into the rooms. Even kids playing ping pong at 11pm were were loud and those needing rest from their day can't sleep.

Overall, we recommend San Lorenzo a Linari to those looking to get away from their busy lives and relax in the foothills of Tuscany.

Room Tip: Superior Room

we stayed 3 days in this hotel and we were really good. the place is fantastic, in the middle of the Sienese countryside yet convenient to reach Siena and other towns. The rooms are very large and very clean. The owner cia has received very good and recommended good restaurants to visit. Breakfast was not super but it was fine. rices average!

If you really want to be in a real tuscany setting with amazing views, this is it. Great value, spacious comfortable cottage type villas. good breakfast. No internet or tv in rooms but in the reception. Beautiful indeed. Dont panic as it is far from Siena and signals to get there are not good. It is worth the driving anxiety, especially at night

Dear M. Lidubina
We are very grateful for your review.
We are very happy that you have appreciated the real tuscany atmosphere.
We are at nine km from Siena .
Concerning the road from Siena there is no problem until three km to the resort .
In effect is not well lighted , even if the road signs are exactly in the spots .
We hope to meet you next time , you and your friends.
Bruno

Stayed 1 night in Villa San Lorenzo not far from Siena. The villa is a beautiful building with a lot of history and character. Our apartment was spacious and very functional. We had everything we needed: fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, a bit tired but functional bathroom. Every second spent in this apartment reminded us that we are in a real, Italian rural setting. Things like wooden beams across the ceiling, decorative ornaments on the walls looked like we were in an old barn conversion which gave this place even more style.
The owner was a very nice and helpful guy.
The breakfast was a positive surprise. Not a typical Italian one (sweet stuff) but a buffet style also including continental items. You had plenty of coffee, juices, fruits, some cooked meats, cheeses etc and selection of breads. If you were very keen, there were croissants and cake too.
We said to the owner that we regret we haven't booked more nights in Villa San Lorenzo. There is a small swimming pool, table tennis and other facilities around the villa so perfect for visiting in the mid summer.
We recommend San Lorenzo to anybody, especially families travelling with kids. There is plenty of space in the apartments and loads to do outside. If you want to chill out overlooking hills and olive gardens of Tuscany, there are also sun loungers spread around the grounds so that you can pick your spot.
Fours stars from us (if the apartments was a bit cleaner I would have given 5 stars).

This was one of our favorite places to stay on our 2011 Europe trip. My partner and I called in for one or two nights from memory and extended it for another night. It was not just San Lorenzo itself but also the local restaurants (real gems) and surrounding countryside. Rates are very good and this is backed up by local restaurant prices and available winery tours from your door.

Hosts were very accommodating with good English which helped us non Italian speakers. We will continue to return to this area over coming years.

Room Tip: Our room was out by the pool which suited us nicely
