When booking a property, photographs are the only means of knowing what the property looks like and, so often, the photographs have proved to be an exaggeration. But not in the case of Villa Capo Grecale which we found to be even better than the photographs suggested. You see, it has an 'inner warmth', even a 'personality' that is so endearing. Its design, construction, decor, quality of furniture and fittings and state of cleanliness are of the highest order. On a warm summer evening try sitting in the beautiful white and green room adjacent to the pool, press button open all the shutters, fold all doors and glass panels so that the room and the pool and garden become one, crack open a bottle of prosecco, put a CD of Pavarotti or Bochelli on the music centre, sit back, look up and be amazed at the wonder of nearby Mount Etna!
We were fortunate to meet the owners, Mario and Simone Who have given this villa its heart. They will go to any length to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The wine, the fruit bowl, the foodstuffs and, after mentioning arancini, on their return to the villa, we were invited into their apartment for a feast of these, accompanied by fries and a delightful wine. A wonderful way to end our holiday.
What a great villa - it far exceeded our expectations. Mario and his wife Simona welcomed us and made sure that we had all that we needed. It was well equipped and very spacious with many different terraces from which to appreciate the breathtaking views of Etna and the coast around Taormina. There is plenty of seating both inside and out with a choice of shade or sun. The pool is one of the largest villa pools we have had and plenty big enough for 3 teenage boys!
It is a short (20 minute) walk away from the village (up quite a steep drive) with plenty of small shops and restaurants and set in tranquil gardens where we could go for an early morning stroll to pick fresh peaches, plums and pears.
It was a lovely villa for a relaxing holiday, it would have been very easy just to stay by the pool for the whole fortnight, although there are also plenty of interesting places to visit within easy driving distance. We would definitely recommend a trip to the Gola d'Alcantara to swim in the refreshingly cool waters running down from Etna.
The Villa is beautiful and a place where you can truly relax. It offers wonderful views of Etna and the surrounding area and is in easy reach of Taormina.
The owner was extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
If you are considering a holiday in this area, do not hesitate to book this Villa.
