Review of Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon
Reviewed 6 April 2018

We went swimming in Hannah's beach resort beacause of super crowded place nearby. In hannah, they had 250/person entrance fee and nipa hut was 600 for 6hours. Since we still have tour in the afternoon, me and my hubby went ahead to the beach, the waves were bigger than me thats why I always brought back to the shoreline.. its my first time to experience that. The view in the resort was amazing also the park with full of cartoon character. Theres a pool for children up to 6feet. since its holy week, they are crowded, we need to fall in line for shower room.

It was better 10 or more years ago. Nevertheless, its still a nice beach :) if you are looking for white sand though, better go at the other side - saud beach area.

The water is cold and rough in the early morning and evenings. So best time to go swim (esp with kids) would be midmorning to late afternoon.

Take extra care when booking rooms here. If you are a backpacker or looking only for basics - there are lots of places to choose from for a nights rest...and you can also request for discounted rates ;) Remember to bring whatever you need (kettle, towels, etc) though. Take note that 1L water is approx php150 while 1L soda is php 120 and a glass of cocktail is php90 to php120 ;)

For those wanting more than basic though ie aircon, tv, chairs, facilities, food area, free drinking water or hot water OR if with kids, then do good research before booking. There are a lot of homestays and "resorts" that should be better described as dormitories or huts...and make sure to confirm that there is a proper parking area. And note that showers, hot water, use of cooking utensils etc usually are not included in the room and have to be paid separately for these types of accommodations. Better to pay a bit more for better accommodation and facilities (wink wink)

Whatever your decision - Enjoy one of the beaches of the north :)

Tip: To go to blue lagoon, make sure to bypass the arrow going up pointing to "pagudpud" (do not go up) and stay on yhe hiway and continue on towards claveria. Follow the flags and signages for Hannah's Beach Resort, the biggest resort along blue lagoon beach (and a proper beach resort btw).

Tip: set aside some time to do some exploring around and visit nearby attractions ie patapat viaduct, bangui windmills and kapurpurawan rock formation etc.

Note: what we did not expect is that you would need to pay for almost everything - entrance to blue lagoon, to kapupurawan etc...when we asked, we were told its a municipal ordinance

A breathtaking view will welcome you as you drive your way down the hill and into the cove. With its natural beauty plus the ongoing developments in the area, it surely will be an item on every beach lover's bucket list...

Try to go back because the distance definitely eats up your time but the view of the Blue Lagoon is so exquisite that you forget the long drive.

We went for an early morning swim so the waves were still strong, the tides can definitely pull you in if you're a lightweight person. The waves are actually ideal for surfing in the morning, just be aware of the rocks. The sea calms down though, around 8 or 9 AM.

Also, we were staying at the end part of the place so we had to walk a bit to get to the part of the beach where it's okay to swim. The farthest parts have rocks and corals so obviously, you won't be able to enjoy your swim that much.

We had a 3D and 2N tour in Ilocos and Blue Lagoon was part of our itinerary. The waves were really strong and we doubted to swim because we can't seem to find a life guard just in case. We just had a short dip and when its time to change to clean clothes and take a fresh water bath, I just saw the most horrible shower rooms ever. It was flooded, with very weak water supply.

I so love the view and the park where there are extremely huge life sized characters. The town of Pagudpud should look into improving this place.
