Famous for the "pecora in Umido" this place is dated 1870 !!! it was in front to the old tram station which was connecting the town with Florence, this is way it's called Tramway trattoria.. So much history and so much old culinary tradition, I love these authentic places, not fancy or pretentious but they give you the "real deal" when is about eating and ....not forgetting.
The entrance is a small shop where you can buy food as Baccala' (cod), ragu alla bolognese, meat cut, Cantucci di Prato famous biscuits to be dip into Vin Santo as tradition.
I think I will go there for lunch and dinner tomorrow as well!!

An authentic trattoria with great food, great service (their English or French is very rusty but they really try their best) and fantastic value for money.

We were recommended this trattoria by our hotel staff. The waiter explained and translated every dish of the menu to us in good English. Even on a busy Friday night the food was served quickly. Pastas, cod and rabbit were good, nothing fancy. Good value for money. Sheep is their specialty and the meat was tasty with penne pasta. Porcini mushroom contorni was perfectly cooked. Only minus for the mosquitos when we ate in the garden at 21-23 in the evening.

We were staying at the wonderful Podere Scarabattoli in nearby Signa and decided to dine at the Tramway based on Tripadvisor recommendations. As has been observed, the address as provided, is on the wrong side of the road and not directly across, but look at the other side of the road and the Tramway is easy to find. The entrance is through the front shop. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was filling quickly, and the waiter spoke sufficiently English to allow good communication. We shared an antipasto of salami and cheese, and I had a pappardelle con cinghiale (wild boar) followed by a steak Florentine and my wife the lamb. The portions were extremely large, the food very good, and the Florentine cooked to perfection, all washed down with a very reasonable house wine. If you want good value, and typical Tuscan food, then this is the place for you, and is close to the Villa Medici in Poggio a Caiano.
