“A breathtaking holiday”
Reviewed 1 January 2015 for a stay in October 2014

What can I say,I can only echo what others have said, beautifull accomodation ,well equipped with everything you will need from spare wellies to fishing rods and pick nick hampers ,if you like to cook the kitchen is superb ,with everything you could wish for .
What we liked most was the panoramic windows wich looked out on to the sorounding landscape wich was stunning .What more can be said about the area ,beautifull coastline full of wild life and not a person in sight the whole nine days of are holiday bliss!
If your into paddling there's no better place ,lockmaddy has a grate opportunity with its many islands to explore. We took are touring kayaks on this occasion ,next time we would also take bikes as the roads are ideal for cycling .we also took are Hungarianwire haired Vizsla Hector ,the island is perfect for dog walking as its noise free and remote ,Hector was without a lead for most of the holiday .
We shall all return on are next road trip and will definitely stay at tranquil sands again ,it's the best holiday cottage we have stay in , thanks mark and may for a grate relaxing holiday .
Karl ,Frances ,Kanace ,and Hector x

We travelled up through Skye to Uig to catch the ferry to Uist. Journey through Skye was nice on its own. Twenty minutes from the ferry at Lochmaddy takes to Tranquil Sands. The bungalow is well furnished and equipped to a high standard. A nice relaxing and walking holiday. We took our dog who also had great walks along the coast and on the beaches. The Location is perfect to see all island, wild life in abundance, we were lucky enough to see the golden eagle on three occasions. Hope to return in the near future.

We agree with everything others have said. Lovely bungalow, everything you could need is provided.
No corncrake in garden but we had a family of pied wagtails, and lapwings feeding after dark and early in the morning, on the lawn. Watched short eared owls hunting in the area and many wading birds - a bird watchers' paradise.
Everyone very friendly. Weather mixed days of rain but also quite a lot of sunshine too.
We loved North Uist and Bernaray - the beaches and the Machair. We got as far as half way down South Uist and found the mountain scenery beautiful.
Thank you Mark and May for a lovely week.

“All you could wish for”
Reviewed 9 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

6*cottage from the booking process onwards. Equipped with everything you could want. Fabulous interior design and quality fittings and furnishings. Spotlessly clean. Beautiful location, such a peaceful and relaxing feel, it has it all. Corncrake in the field, oystercatchers in the garden even a hen harrier flying close. Loved everything about our holiday except it was not long enough. Would love to return for a longer stay.

“An immaculate bungalow in a wonderful part of Scotland”
Reviewed 2 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We completely agree with previous guests' comments. Tranquil Sands is furnished & equipped to a high standard throughout, and is well situated for North Uist & Berneray in particular, although if you are happy to drive around on holiday you can cover all of the Outer Hebrides. The beaches & skies have to be seen to be believed, and there is that wonderful sense of space & solitude from being at the very edge of Europe.
Staying there in June means endless hours of light, so if the weather during some part of the day is poor just wait a bit & it will improve.
We would love to return here, and continue exploring in the Uists.
