“Great Hotel & Friendly Resort”
Reviewed 31 August 2009

I'll start with the negatives as they're not many:-
We had a sea view studio of which we booked through Travel Republic. We arrived at 5.00 in the morning and the key was left in the door for us as requested (we emailed direct to ask for this - their website is under Beach Star Hotel). Bit disappointed that there were 2 single beds and a sofa bed (see pic). We assumed there would be 4 beds. We let the kids have the beds and my partner and I slept in the sofa beds and I can assure you they were not very comfy!
Pool Bar too expensive. 2 euros for a soft drink is too steep we think. They were charging the same prices as restaurants. We would go to a local supermarket and buy soft drinks for 60-80 cents each and stock up the fridge in the room. Luckily everything was within close proximatey, so going back to the room for a drink was no great rave. Food we thought was also too expensive and not good value. The kids had chicken nuggets & chips one day and this cost 5 euros and there wasn't must on the plate. For lunch we ate instead at Napolean snack bar just up the road. Far cheaper and the man who runs it is really nice.
Showering at a peak times was not easy. Water would be boiling hot one minute and cold another and then eventually cut out completely - usually when your hair was all covered in suds!! You get there eventually though and we did laugh about it, but it can take time...

Now for the good side!!
Even though the sea view studios sleeping arrangements were not great, the view made up for it with the balcony being quite large as well. Rooms were off a good size and were very clean with a nice size bathroom. Kettle & toaster were supplied too which to us is a luxury in Greece.
Pool fantasic, very clean as was all of the hotel & grounds. The owner & Maz in the pool bar very friendly. You need any advice and she will help.
Air con reasonable at 7 euros per night with safety deposit box FOC at Beach Star Hotel
Sandy/rocky beach was just two steps in front of the hotel. You do have to pay for sunbeds so we didn't bother, we just walked across in our swim gear whenever and went for a swim. You can hire peddalo's with slides on (10 euros per hr) or a speedboat (cheapest 15hp engine for 30 euros for 2 hrs).
Nightlife in Sidari was fun, Michael Jackson is still alive there along with Freddie Mercury & Elvis. We never hit on a fantastic restaurant to eat out at, they were all just OK.
We did a few trips, but I see other reviews have spoke about them so I won't go over it again. However, Spot Travel (just up the road) were very cheap to book through.
Our holiday overall in Corfu was really great. We stayed in Kassiopi for the 2nd week of our holiday. Combing the 2 resorts was great as Kassiopi is quiter and has more charm. We also found some great restaurants there too.
One tip though, take every mosy repellent you can with you, the island is swarmed with them along with wasps. We have been to many greek islands and this one was by far the worst.

We arrived really late on a Monday night and the reception area was closed, but managed to locate a list on the wall with our name and room number with the key in the door. Orestis apartments were in an ideal location just across the road to the beach. This beach was less busy than the main beach in Sidari so ideal if you want a quieter holiday. We went as a family with 3 children aged 13, 10 and 9 and stayed for 12 days. The pool at Orestis was brilliant and clean and you didn't have to reserve the sunbeds which was great. The apartments were ample for our family with the 3 kids in one room (2 singles and 1 sofa bed) with me and my husband in the other. All basic self catering facilities provided. Rooms were cleaned every day except Sunday, however we did find our towels didn't get changed as often as we would have liked so had to put up with soggy towels for a couple of days. English staff on reception - so handy for getting information and very helpful. Free safe deposit box provided at Beach Star Hotel two blocks down. We hired a peddle boat with a slide right in front of the hotel on the beach. This was great fun and surprisingly relaxing. We also hired bikes at 5 euros each and went cyling to a village called Peroulades which was really good fun and visited Sun Set beach there (about half hour cycle away). We went on two boat trips: 1) Paleokastritsa (glass bottom boat) Paradise Beach BBQ. This cost 22 euros each (half price kids) from Travel Spot close to Orestis apartments. Great day out and fabulous BBQ (good portion) with free drinks on beach. 2) East Coast cruise - sail from Kassiopi harbour - very scenic and beautiful boat trip along East Coast - get to swim in under water caves and crystal blue waters and see Albania 2km away at one point. Really recommend this trip for families (booked with Travel Spot). We also went on an all inclusive day to Hydropolis Water Park (drinks free all day and a great lunch and eat as much as u like including ice cream) - great value for money and lots of fun for kids. Sidari itself is very busy at night with loud music and very touristy but you can eat at the tavernas close to Orestis, it's much quieter. Sea Breeze do a fabulous full English Breakfast. Canal d'amour beautiful at night with sunset and also a walk to the monastery on the hill at night to see sun setting. Sidari Water Park only a 10 minute walk from Orestis and you pay 10 euros each for unlimited visits for the duration of your holiday (so worth paying at beginning). We went about 5 times. You have to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas on the beaches so it's worth buying an umbrella at the beginning of your holiday to save money (we picked one up for 5 euros). Local supermarkets are expensive, but Delias and Makarto further up were much cheaper (about 15 minute walk). Overall a great holiday and the kids had a ball!

We stayed here for 10 days, 2 adults, 2 young children, 2 teenagers. The apartments are well kept, modern and clean. The pool is great for everyone, there are always plenty of sunbeds (no need to reserve any with your towel) and there are spares if needed (these never were and hotel was full) the sunbeds have a nice soft vinyl cushion on them. The friendly bar over looks the pool and is handy for drinks, snacks and ice creams. There is a large supermarket 2 minutes walk, however, not the cheapest but handy. There a a few tavernas very close, most of these are good. The boat hire right on the beach at the front is the best, good boats, good service and very friendly. The beach itself is cleaned most mornings and is great for a swim and cool down.
These apartments are situated in one of the best areas. It is safe, quiet but only 5-10 minutes walk to the main strip. To me this was the more genuine and traditional area and no body bothered you. I would highly recommend these apartments, the staff could not do enough for you and if there was a problem it was sorted straight away. The aircon cost 7 euros per day and the maids came in everyday bar sunday. I am hoping to return in the future.
