Stayed here last week. Wonderful room, wish we could have stayed longer. Staff very helpful especially Emannuela. Breakfast splendid. Check there website, they have really made an effort, with 40 different rooms/suites throughout the village. If Apricale isn't a world heritage site it should be. Has to be seen to be believed, one for your bucket list! If you are going in a group get one of there suites. They even have a glorified golf trolley to take you and your baggage to your room as cars can't get into the old village

Room Tip: Check the website and call/e-mail.

When you are just close to Apricale, you wonder how it could be they built a village here some 1000 years ago. When you look for the hotel , you are already in the village and viceversa!
The hotel uniqueness is its widespread along the village with 42 rooms/apartments/suites depending on your budget/preference.
Here you must leave your car outside the village in a car park available to the hosts .
The breakfast is delicious , with many handmade cakes and all guests meet there in that single double floors room, coming from all over the village which is premedieval age .
All the rooms are tiny and well equipped to maintain the old romantic style of some centuries ago. If you want to get your partner in love with you , this would be a magic place to be !

As an expat living in the South of France I regularly visit the north or Italy for a refreshing smile and customer service which lacks here in France. Apricale is a beautiful village that I have visited several times along with the other villages in the valley.

The hotel is very unique that is built through out the town. Check in was slightly delayed as there were only two staff and another couple arrive shortly after us. Which meant we had to wait for around 20 minutes before we got to the room.

There were communication problems. I called the hotel several times to confirm that the suite had two double beds and could accommodate a small dog. I was advised to send an email which was not replied to until I put it into google translate and resent it in Italian.

Unfortunately after three confirmations via email that yes there was two doubles we were only given a room with a double and a single. Which for my friend traveling solo was disappointing as she had been in a bunk bed for three months working on boat and was looking forward to a nice double. It is a long hike back to reception to ask for another room and there are no telephones connecting the room to reception. After I had paid the lady then added that we would have to pay a 15 euro cleaning fee for the dog. Which I think should have been disclosed in the email when I asked. It also seemed slightly steep as the room had so much dust on every surface. Possibly it had not been used for a while... I understand old houses get dust as I live in one myself but it needed a vacuum before we arrived.

We were lucky that the room had air-conditioning. It also had a small outdoor terrace. A full kitchen although we didn't utilise it as we were there for just one night. Although advertised a suite for three people. I would say really its just for 2 adults and a child the rooms and beds are very small. (The single room had no external window.) This was in the "Lady Beetle suite"

They drive your luggage part of the way to the room but then you must carry it yourself through the small village lane ways up and down stairs and the hill so make sure you don't take anything to heavy! On check out you must pay a 6 euro service fee to get your bags picked up again.

I would recommend this hotel as it was a very different experience and obviously not your standard hotel. If you want silence and peace for sleeping its perfect! Just make sure if you have any special requests they are all sorted at check in or use google translate in Italian for email if you cannot speak Italian.

Room Tip: Hotel staff speak limited French & english so correspond using a translator to Italian via email...

We discovered the hotel by chance.... And we have been very lucky! The surrounding is absolutely astonishing, it is like a jump back in the past: you find yourself in a medieval little village completely made of stone, narrow streets, which go up and down the hill! The 40 rooms of the hotel are spread all around the village, each one different from the other. We saw few of them and all are really nice.
You must wear comfortable shoes and bring light luggage .. Reaching the room may be a challenge but absolutely it is worth.... This is really a "widespread hotel"!!!
Maddalena and her personnel are very very kind and will do their best to make your stay extremely comfortable. Our initial assigned room was a bit small and Maddalena did not hesitate to give us a new bigger and more comfortable room.
Breakfast is really good.... And you will enjoy it even more after the "climbing" from your room.
For sure we will come back.

Amazing concept with individual rooms around this unspoilt medieval hill top town. Every room a one off. We stayed in the suite named Portico which was on 2 levels. The bathroom and sitting area with small kitchen was below the galleried bedroom accessed by a spiral staircase - not great in the middle of the night!! Truly a unique experience. Breakfast was in another of the locations - a cavelike room.
All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.
