A great night stay

We stayed for a night at this ski resort. The onsen is big with many facilities. The room has a great view of the ski resort. Staff members are polite and helpful. Strongly recommended for those who loves to ski or enjoy the snow. Room is clean and well-kept.
Ningle Terrace is nearby and you can do some shopping or have a cup of coffee at the coffee shop. It’s also a good place for some photos.

The New Furano Prince Hotel meets the standards I have come to expect in a Prince Hotel (Japan, Hawaii, California). The guest rooms are western-styled, modern, and not your typical cramped Japanese-sized rooms. The views from the upper floors are beautiful looking either towards Furano city or the green mountains. The beds were comfortable and the furniture was modern.

One of the best features of the hotel is its onsen--hot spring--spa located in a separate building. The setting is modern and serene. The outdoor onsen is wonderful. The onsen is located in a separate building which is actually quite a walk away from the guest rooms--but definitely worth the experience. I went there twice each day.

The breakfast buffet that came with our package was superb. A very nice assortment of Japanese and Western breakfast entrees that were constantly refreshed. I skipped the Western food. After all, were were vacationing in Hokkaido and the Japanese food at the buffet was outstanding.

If you are touring Hokkaido, the New Furano Prince is definitely one of the places to spend a couple of nights. During the winter season it is in close proximity to several ski runs. I woulds definitely stay there again.

Room tip: Upper floors have the best views

I was there in March 2019 with 3 families, total 8 adults and 7 childrens.

We had very bad experiences during lunch and dinner.

First incident, we ate at 3 separate tables for lunch. My wife paid for our table and we waited outside. The second table then went to pay for their lunch. Then their bill had items that they did not order. When our friend pointed it out to the manager that they did not order the food. They assumed that my wife from the first table had not paid for the food. They were very rude when they called us out in front of the restaurant. Finally they realised those food that has not been paid belong to the third table who were still eating at that point in time. They did not apologize to us at all. We felt so disrespected because they way they demanded payment was as if we purposely try to avoid payment.

Second incident, after we had our buffet dinner at the big hall at night, we were walking towards the cashier to pay, i can see clearly, the cashier lady, the same one that made the mistake during lunch time, purposely walked out of her position at the counter, put her right hand up to halt us and direct us to the cashier, as if she is trying to prevent us from leaving without paying for our dinner. The male manager, who has a backcombed hairstyle is there as well. I should hv gotten his name. He is the same manager that called out my wife in the afternoon very rudely. They did not do so for other customers, only to us.

We are Indonesian of Chinese decent. We have been travelling to Japan every year since 2015. We are accustomed to the Japanese culture. We are very respectful of their culture. However, some of the staff at Furano New Prince hotel seemed very disrespectful to Chinese travelers there.

In conclusion, if you are of Chinese decent, better not stay at Furano New Prince hotel.

They successfully made my whole family feel unwelcomed there.

The manager with the backcombed hairstyle and that cashier are the worst, I regreted not taking their names and report them to their superior.

We arrived the hotel on 10Jul19 afternoon after seeing the famous and beautiful flowers in the fields. The hotel is up in the hill surrounded by trees. We were given room 1105 which is a twin with views of the forest behind the building.

The room is spacious and properly equipped with all we need. The room is also clean and modernized with it's furniture. They also have a very nice hot spring facility and a big souvenir shop which also sells snacks and drinks.

The most beautiful attraction is the small wooden village right next to the hotel. It contains twenty something shops which built with wood individually and selling all types of handcrafted items. All these small huts are connected by wooden paths (bridges ) and the little lighting along the way makes the area so romantic. Among these huts, there is a coffice house where you can sit down, look out the window and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.

As a whole, this is a perfect place to spend a weekend.

Nice Location. Clean rooms and international TV channels. View of Ski routes from room ... Ski season opens in Nov. Hot air balloon rides during summer in June. Night shops in the woods...

Not convenient if you wish to go out to Furano Town for dinner. It's a 10 minute easy drive into town. 👍

Booked reservation for one person in a room big enough for six, but then had change of plan and needed to have one more person staying over. At the registration desk, we wanted to check how much it would be to accommodate for one additional guest, hotel staff ended telling us it would be more than double the original booking cost and that fees are charged per head not per room. This is not the policy and pricing indicated by the hotel’s website, and they basically just wanted to rip us off. In the meantime, there are plenty of other hotels nearby that charge a fraction of the cost. And even if we were to book a separate room, the overall cost would still be less than having two in the original room. Whatever policy they were quoting made no sense and just seemed unwelcoming/unaccomondating to guests who are already at the hotel. After much negotiating and through the help of booking website, they finally made the concession of charging $40 usd more per night without providing breakfast and spa voucher.

Later on, we had lost our room key card, hotel staff informed us that they can provide a new one, but it would cost us $20usd if we can’t find the old key card upon check out. If this had happened in other international chain hotels, key card would be replaced at no additional cost immediately.

Just seems this hotel is trying to rip off its guests at any chance possible.
