This gem with its' amazing views is located 3.8km (this is important as the sign is very small and easy to miss) from the south town edge of Slano. If you have a car it is about a 45 minute drive to Old Town Dubrovnik, and about 30 minutes back north to Ston. This large stone Villa whose Apts cascade down the hill from the road to the sea, is very worthy of your consideration. The owners are very welcoming and helpful, the apts. large, comfortable and most have a great view, There is a sunbathing area and beach, and in season an on site restaurant/bar that serves very good local cuisine and breakfasts otherwise the closest restaurants are in Slano. We had a two bedroom with a large balcony in the lowest building- but still 75 steps from the sea. If you do not like or cannot handle stairs this will not be the place for you. The only other drawback is that the parking is at street level near a blind curve so be very careful pulling out. We soon learned to roll the window down and listen as you can hear the traffic coming up from the blind side and see it coming from the other make this a team effort.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony apt. and if you do not like stairs there are a few higher up near the street with very little road noise because the building is below street level.

This villa is somehow still a little paradise left untouched from the massive tourism industry in the nearby Slano. Its waterfront location surrounded by alpine trees makes it a heaven on earth. From the moment we started to unwind on the beach - usually mornings - to the evening dinners with oysters and seafood we couldn't imagine anything better. Our week was a 7 day long escape from absolutely everything, there's nothing to worry about here, you have the sea, the beach, the sunsets, quiet and warm nights, fresh mornings that soon became twisty with the first jump into the sea. Crystal clear sea, very different than the Italian side of Adriatic. Restaurants are couple miles away, we used the transfer service at the villa, affordable, better than renting a car. Our apartment - Palms - has a fantastic terrace and bbq grill, located on the ground floor, all in all, there wasn't more than 20 people in the villa so its very private, everybody's in own world... Great place, wonderful ambient, we will come back!

One of the best villas in Croatia, especially loved the beach and the sunsets. Apartments and rooms very comfortable, remote location - you need a car. Waterfront property, excursions to the islands possible, pick up at the villa. Excellent seafood, traditional dishes, good beer. Dubrovnik - half an hour by car.

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor rooms closer to the sea..

We stayed at Villa Ratak for a week while exploring the coast of Croatia, Montenegro and parts of Bosnia. The villa sits on the coast about 15mins from the city of Dubrovnik. Because the villa was miles from 'civilization' it was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. With no outside lights to interfere with star gazing, sunsets and evenings were amazing. The water was a little chilly in May, but I still had wonderful, refreshing swims in the Adriatic from the lower patio area. Villa Ratak had comfortable suites with gorgeous balcony views of the coast. Each suite also had baths, a common area, a kitchen. Wifi was available in the dining area and on the balconies. Our bath had a convenient washing machine. The owners, Luksa and Franka speak English well and were very helpful about local information. They treated us like family with delicious breakfast and dinner daily. They went out of their way to prepare healthy vegetarian for me while grilling meats and fresh seafood for others. They even gave us a cooking class one day and got a beautiful cake for my husbands birthday. Really loved the stay and would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from the hussle of the city (Dubrovnik). I also thought it would be a great place for a small (maybe 20 people) destination wedding.

Room Tip: All rooms comfortable but some are small with only partial Adriatic views. Ask for balcony if that's want you want. Some suites have 4 bedrooms, 3baths.

The place was built in stages but you couldn't tell. It was private and quaint, the rooms were clean and ours had a kitchenette. The owners went out of their way to fix a few things caused by the previous guests. The hotel is located just over 30 minutes north of Dubrovnik
