We were here in March 2016 over spring break. This is an absolutely beautiful, fully-furnished 3BR + 2 full BA apartment in a gated community with garage parking. It seems the gated part is more to restrict unnecessary traffic. The apartment is situated a short way up a hill, lifting it above the main road and giving a truly incredible view of the ocean.
The apartment is furnished beautifully, with comfortable sofas and a dining room table that seats at least 6. The kitchen is complete with top of the line appliances and had plenty of dishes and glassware for us. But the best part of this place is the huge outdoor patio. Giant, all-glass sliding glass doors let in tons of light into the apartment. The doors lead out to the patio that has a seating area closest to the doors with a small table and seating for four. Then beyond that the patio opens up to a dining table with seating for six, and adjacent to that are two chaise lounges. There is a small charcoal grill available too. We spent every moment we could sitting on the padded chaise lounges looking out at the incredible view. When we arrived, the cushions for the patio seating had been brought inside so they weren't wet from the rain - yet another thoughtful and simple touch by the property manager to help make our stay that much more enjoyable. Sitting out on the patio with the Spanish tile flooring, comfortable seating, and simple plants and decorations was incredibly relaxing.
The property manager Linda (Lin) was just lovely to work with, accessible and friendly. And the owners Lee Ann and Antonio were extremely friendly and incredibly helpful with the booking process, with making suggestions for towns to explore, making car and train reservations, and more. Their assistance in locating services and confirming that I was planning all of our travel connections correctly helped ease our minds about everything.
We are already planning on another trip to come back here to spend more time in Manilva and hopefully to enjoy the beach during warmer weather. I'm sure it will be much more crowded when the weather warms up, as this is a truly beautiful, lush area.
Travel to the apartment was easy, but it was a long trip for us from DC. We flew into Madrid, took a free transfer train to the train station, then took the 3-hour Renfe AVE train down to Malaga. Tickets for the train were less than the flights directly into Malaga from the States, and we got to experience the smooth, quiet train ride while watching the scenery. Then we rented a car (ahead of time, and prepaid!) through doyouspain.com; the car rental desk is right in the Malaga train station, which was really convenient. Then we drove nearly 2 hours to the apartment. Long trip, but definitely worth it.
