It was a calm pleasant evening as we stepped off the plane in anticipation of what was to come.
we were greeted by two tired individuals who could nearly pass for Airtours representatives, who obviously were suffering from the previous or same evenings Sangria.
We hurried to the coach and sat in what could only be described as a fridge and headed off in search of our dream holiday.
First impressions (albeit dark) were nice hotel, where is the oxygen. The receptionist was wide awake (4.30am) and proceeded to charge our room key. We then set off escorted by hotel security who had limited skills in the use of English. A prevailing tail wind helped us on our journey in pursuit of our room and several wrong turns and confusing hand signals by security, eventually we arrived after completing what could only be described as a training session for the Great North Run.
We were very surprised as the room was clean, tidy and very comfortable...no complaints.
Morning came and excitement tookover...we opened the balcony and the view was a dream for any would be naturist as right there in front of us was the hotel tree (Room 404). The rest of the week was spent playing peek a boo through the foliage (Great fun).
You pay for what you get and we certainly got what we paid for.
Yes there was the complimentary cockroach and I had heard of many robberies taking place in the hotel. I have to admit we encountered no such problems other than the would be indian restaurant (above the supermarket), who thought 68 Euros for a pathetic Vindaloo was value for money. (we later found out the indian chef was actually from Bradford).
The poolside entertainment was second to none as we witnessed a two hour display from a mad English woman on the fourth floor who kept us entertained with mad rants with her imaginary friend and was convinced she could fly. This was followed by the local police SWAT team who eventually took control of the situation to a standing ovation from the poolside guests sunning themselves below.
Please take a GPS system with you on this holiday as we as a family took 3 days of competative argument as to who knew the correct way back to the room.
Tip of the week :
Whilst walking along the corridors, check the chest of drawers on each level as this is where the maids hide their stash of stolen spirits from guests whilst doing the cleaning.
I will be returning to this apartment as its a good laugh.

Fantastic holiday!
Came here 4 years ago and wanted to return as had a great holiday. It lived up to our previous experiance.
Our room didnt have a second sofa bed stand but hotel reception was very helpful and we had one within 2 hours, reception staff was very friendly and brought up coats hangers as we requested. Sun beds were reserved early however as the week went on there were many spare beds. Pool was very clean and well looked after with a lifeguard.
Our room was also clean and never saw any cockroaches in the room or hotel.
Fantastic rep who was very helpful and honest about trips etc.
Wide range of bars/resturants.
Also used local bus service into playa de las americas for shopping and beach day. Bus took about an hour.
Was very worried about previous enteries however this was all unfounded during our holiday.
Will be going again

we arrived at 3am in the morning to the hotel that we thought looked very nice but it went down hill from there.

went down stairs for our breakfast in the morning there was a limited choice and this was with lunch and dinner too! the choice very rareley changed and it seemed that what was left from lunch we then had for dinner. overall the food was horrible.

we went down to the pool and decided we wanted a snack but the chef at the snack bar said that we had to pay for it even though we were all inclusive! he told us if we wanted snacks we would have to go to the restaurant which meant getting changed out if our swim wear.

instead of going to restaurant we went to the poolside bar to get a drink. not to our surprise we were also refused the drink of our choice! and was told we had to pay for it so we drank soft drinks all week because we werent going to pay when we had paid for an all inclusive holiday which was obviously not!

the place was obviously dirty because there were a fair few cockroaches which was the last straw for us, we have only listed a few problems and there are a lot more!

overall we did not enjoy the holiday and wasnt the only ones! most of the people we talked to were not happy either!

After arriving at the hotel around 2am, we arrived at the hotel which on the outside looked very nice.

We sat down on the bed's in the hotel room and thought that this looks lovely with a nice view of the pool from our balcony.

We looked in the kitchen to find 3 frozen cockroaches in the freezer and there were a few over the weeks stay around the room.

Next we went up into the village and decided to do some shopping where they all want your money.

The beach was about an hour walk away and there was not a lot on the whole island to do.

The swimming pool was freezing & there were building works in a near by hotel which was being demolished at the time and was very off putting lead by the pool.

We also saw the chef of the hotel in the bin stamping down the rubbish in his whites WE NEVER ATE THERE AGAIN!!

Also there was a cigarette packet in the swimming pool for about 3 days.

The holiday was that bad we came home a week early!!!!

Getting a late booking for this hotel at a reduced price was the only really good thing about this holiday.
The 4 and a half hour delay due to a "broken plane" was not a good start and with hindsight probably was an omen.
The rude awakening on the first morning, was looking out at 9.15 am and not seeing a single free sunbed! As we found out, they are unchained at 9 am and placing a table with a towel on top at any time of the overnight/early morning guarantees your spot by the pool!
Not very condusive but an 8.30 alarm got me a ticket to the sunbed"It's a knockout!!"
I must balance this by praising the lovely clean pool, carefully manned by a watchful lifeguard.
The snack bar round at the bigger pool was fairly good value for the choices you had.We were self-catering which turned out a good choice because of the variation in restaurants only minutes walk away.
El Vareanda,Beeches, ninos and San Francisco. All great value whatever your food fancy.
I must say the San Miguel in frozen glasses was a revalation on a hot night from El Vareandas!
Then there was the walk down the steps to Los Gigantes is a amazing experience just before sunset, with even more choice of eateries.
Another must is the walk up the 118 steps(yes we counted them!!) opposite the hotel. Turn left at the top for the much cheaper supermarket.Turn right at the top for the main strips of shops and eateries, also the views are even more incredible from this height!
I must give a plug for Screaming O'reillys pub who also served chilled san miguel and looked after us very well the night of the Big Brother final night shown live on satellite(I know, very sad but blame the wife!!)
Back at the hotel, the staff were not too bad,if a little dismissive of us Brits in favour or the Spanish, who seemed to dominate the hotel in numbers and in attitude.
All in all I wouldn't come here again. One for the proliferation of Spanish. Two the entertainment was diabolical and three it wasn't worth the long flight.
