I like to offer constructive feedback so venues have the opportunity to learn and improve. We have been going on static Caravan holidays for over 40 years, so have a good base line understanding of what makes a good park and holiday!
1) Drop the 'Sun holiday' excuse! We felt like 3rd rate citizens (behind owners and people who booked direct). Every time we had a question/request the answer always started with 'because you are a Sun holiday customer...' grrrr
2) Review the extortionate and unnecessary charges! £40 'admin fee' for altering dates during a 5min phone call!!! £70 to allow us to book in at 15:00 as opposed to 16:00. £20 to move closer to friends, £140 if we wanted a caravan with more space.
3) Caravan - the tiniest caravan we have ever had, there was NO gap between single beds in second bedroom and only just enough space at bottom of beds to standup. NO space to store suitcases, and minimal wardrobe space - only 6 clothes hangers. Living room and kitchen so compact, no space for kids to play and if you hang coats on hooks you can't walk by without knocking things off. Lounge fire not working.
3b) Caravan cleanliness - 100% not cleaned/checked before our arrival. Makeup, hair clips and sweets under beds, big Ikea style bags in cupboards, toys under seats, cereals in kitchen, pens and clothes left in master bedroom cupboards.
Raised the above with reception and was told 'we can move you to another Caravan.....BUT AS YOU ARE A SUN HOLIDAY CUSTOMER YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT'!!!
3c) The caravan, at best, is suitable for 2 people and 1 child max. The whole ordeal was compounded by all other members of our party having much larger caravans - yet we all paid exactly the same! Only positive was great heating (probably because there wasn't much space to heat!)
4) Amenities far too small for size of park, only got to swim for 2 of the 5 days as got fed up queuing. Only got a table at the showroom 1 night of the 4. Never got to play on the sports court or golf as always too busy. We have been to many sites half the capacity of this and yet they had far larger amenity spaces - you need to address this as we did not get value for money on our 'entertainment passes'.
5) Better parking instructions - Caravan in front of ours had two cars and parked the second car across the front of their van. On 2 occasions they completely blocked us in, and all other times we had to do 20 point turns to get out.
6) Fish & Chip shop nice, friendly staff and food acceptable and priced competitively. Pizza shop over priced and average standard.
7) Put a partition along the showroom bar and make it adults only. Any time I went to the bar I would lose half my drinks by unruly kids continually running and being a nuisance next to the bar bumping into me.
8) Lose some of the speed bumps! I'm all for safety but strips every 10-20 yards is far to excessive - my suspension has taken a noticeable bashing during our stay, to the extent I will be taking it to a garage when home.
We had only ever been to South England (Cornwall, Devon and Dorset) previously, and only used Haven and Hobourne parks as always had great experiences. Choosing to go to Parkdean and Wales was a huge leap of faith for us, especially as this was the most expensive holiday we had ever paid for, and we did so with massive expectations - sadly none of them were met, and we head home feeling massively conned/ripped off...and that we still need a holiday ☹️☹️☹️!

There are four of us and we all had food in the cafe at Fantasia on Trecco this evening and the 4 of us have been ill since. We all have terrible stomach ache and the children have even had to have medicine to try and help them. Just glad we got 2 toilets and hope we don't run out of toilet paper!! Never felt so rough as I do now.

We are currently away and staying in a Dyffryn Caravan. The caravan is very clean and modern. We expected nothing less given it’s new on the park this year.

It’s light and airy and has ample seating for 6 of us.

It’s our first time visiting a Parkdean Resort. A couple of big gripes... the beds were not made up on arrival and so we had to make them ourselves. That’s not what I expect when I’m paying nearly £500 for 4 nights! When we were dressing the beds the sheets were heavily stained which again is a reflection of their standards. These things aren’t good and did frustrate us.

The park seems well equipped although we haven’t been to the showdome because it’s not our choice of entertainment.

The bedrooms are very small but comfortable. I’ve kept my suitcase in the car. It’s a caravan though so it’s often expected.

The beach is nice and within easy walking distance. There are rocks which are great for climbing and crabbing and there’s sandy areas too.

There is quite a bit to do onsite. Pedal karts, bowling (skittles), football, pool, etc. It depends on what you like. It’s a lively site.

We are off to the LC in Swansea today so that should be very enjoyable for our 5 x 15 year olds...

Hello Kristin.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay with us whilst still on holiday! Sorry to hear about the stains on the bedding you was given - this is not indicative of our usual high standards - by informing us we would have changed these for you. Hope you enjoyed your day out at the LC in Swansea? We hope to welcome you back to Trecco Bay again in the future.

Porthcrawl is an area of need of investment but has some stunning beaches to enjoy.

TRECCO bay is huge, not pitchurerest but has some good new facilities e.g. entertainment hall for small kids, restuarant, bars and swimming pool. Great for the kids and staff are very friendly. Even basic carvans can keep you warm in the rain. For larger families probably worth upgrading to bigger caravan but basic was good for family of 5 with 3 small kids using 3 bedroom carvan.

Probably worth paying for bed linen etc and remember to bring all your soaps, washing up liquid, bin bags, tea towel, and food.

Co-op shop just outside of park and petrol garague and post office nearby.

On site fish shop was excellent and good value. Time your visit as they are a little slow but worth the wait.

REST Bay when at low tide. Vast beach to run, play and surf with rock pools, fun for all the family. Car park and cafe above. The only downside is the beach is covered at high tide.

FROM carvan site head towards Newton Beach and then walk along towards Merthy maur sand dunes.

THE Gower is only 1 hour drive away and oswich bay is beautiful sand and dunes.

Local pub
THE jolly sailor 1/2 mile from the site provides great quality British pub food and local fish dishes. Its small and compact but great atmosphere, with some seating outside.Worth booking.

Porthcrawl Harbour
There is a new cafe, pizza and mid range restuarant overlooking the Harbour.

Shopping and cinema 20 mins drive in Bridgend for rainy days. Big odean and factory outlet shops just off m4.

Went to Trecco bay during the first week of irish easter break. GB didn’t have break until after easter so the facilities where easy to access and plenty of space in restaurants and bars. Kids really enjoyed it (3yo, 6yo and 8yo). Great pool, playground and footie pitch. Went to Swansea and Cardiff for day trips. Walked to Porthcawl to the pier with amusements by the coast (15mins) which was great. Lovely chipper at end of pier. Porthcawl is the youghal of wales. A lot of the outdoor activities (folly farm, Oakwood, manor farm) closer to tenby which is 1.5 hrs away.
